They used cheap blackmail to force the hand of the government.
Amaechi in cahoots with other latter day saints like saint Aregbesola, saint Oshiomhole and saint Okorocha arm twisted and blackmailed the FG to share the money, they insisted that the money must be shared.

oh ameachi and his cohorts like aregberascal, aboki rochas, and oshiomole shared the money among themselves hun? While akpabio, udduaghan, seriake and other PDP govnor that constitute about 65% of the governors folded their arms and turn a blind eye.

Trying to educate a zombie is akin to bringing a man back to life .
This was an old story, NOI thru ECA tried to save but many governors say no. It is like inheritance left for children, like house, some say let sell and share, some says let us rent and be collecting money. Those that advocated for outright sell won at the court of law. The family this happened to is a family friend, twenty yrs ago. Now they are renting house at their old age and retired. Lesson for everybody, the pain here is that Amaechi and Osiomole are not renting house.

You should rather be ashamed of not being able to reason properly. Sharing the money is statutory, the money earned by the federation must be shared among the federating units, to save any money, you must have the backing of the governors whose peoples' money you want to save. The governors led by saint Amaechi did not want to save, they wanted the money shared!

We are in this mess because the saintly governors led by saint Amaechi did not want us to save! What is so hard to understand in this

Answer the question please.. what happened to the FG's share? Did Amaechi force them to spend and not save that as well. You think you're slick trying to dodge the question.

Then if sharing money is statutory, are you not being mischievous and being purposely dishonest by saying Amaechi blackmailed the FG?

Then in Nigerian politics I don't think anyone is Saint, this is why I don't defend any politician. As far as I'm concerned 95% are there for selfish purposes. I'm not saying Amaechi was right or wrong for asking for it to be shared but there was gross mismanagement. You can deny this all day to cover for your politician heros but it's true. Even the Amaechi insisted on the sharing because the money wasn't adding up anymore. They felt like the FG was already spending without then knowing so rather than the FG squandering the money, they insisted on sharing. If the FG weren't lacking integrity that argument won't hold but since their integrity was questionable they caved.

The interesting fact about this issue is that even the little that was saved in the Excess Crude Account was squandered by NOI without the approval of the state governors. That's the basis of the running battle between Oshiomole and Iweala. But you don't expect the natural-born wailers to acknowledge that!

Jonathanians always grabbing on to straws in a desperate bid to have something to say.

This news surfaced as far back as January 2015 whrn you lord and saviour GEj still held sway; as at then, Nigeria's gdp growth rate had swiftly plummeted to its lowest in decades and the government of Jona even had to borrow to pay common salaries.

And yes, in as much as the power to control global oil prices was/is neither in the hands of Jona nor pmb, if Jona was responsible enough to save when oil prices were over the top (like good leaders do), Nigeria wouldnt have fallen into this present recession. The last time oil prices fell this sharply was in 2008-2009 and the only reason Nigeria survived it was because Yaradua was responsible enough to have saved a whooping $20billion in reserves within 1 year (2007 to 2008) when oil prices reached an all time high. But your Oga Jona enjoyed similar high oil prices for straight 5 years but he couldnt save a dime, rather he squandered recklessly on nothing and left the national reserves far more lower than he met it. What a shame!

Kindly stop making a fool of jonathan by mentioning his name in all these ignorant arguments.

You people ( PDP and it's allies) are not tired of these worn out excuses for the previous government's squandermania. Please respond to the question; why did Okonjo Iweala not save portion of the FG's 52% share and even resorted to borrowing to run the government? Was it Amaechi that prevented the FG from saving? Also tell me which PDP governor including Jonathan's staunch allies like Akpabio and Jonah Jang that supported the FG to help the states save its portion of allocations? I am sure that if the governor's agreed to saving their share, they would have been scammed by Okonjo and Jonathan. They would have spent all the money in the guise of fighting Boko Haram and fuel subsidy.

Again read this article to understand the grievances of the governor's;

Excess Crude Account: Governors to charge FG to court
September 20, 2012

The governor of the states in Nigeria disagree with the FG over deductions from the Excess Crude Account to offset fuel subsidy.
The Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, on Thursday said it would return to court to challenge the Federal Government’s deductions from the Excess Crude Account, to offset fuel subsidy payments.
The Chairman or the NGF, Chibuike Amaechi, said this at the forum’s meeting in Abuja.
Mr. Amaechi stated that the NGF unanimously took the decision after long deliberations to get the court to compel the Federal Government to adhere to the provision of the constitution.
“On the Excess Crude Account, forum unanimously decided to head back to court to enforce the Federal Government’s adherence to the constitution,’’ he stated.

The meeting was attended by the governors of Rivers, Cross River, Ekiti, Ondo, Anambra, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Gombe, Adamawa, Yobe, Taraba, Enugu, Jigawa, Delta, Plateau, Ondo, Abia, Ogun and Oyo states.
Others are: Kogi, Akwa Ibom, Niger, Kwara, and Nasarawa states among, while Imo was represented by the deputy governor.

It was clear from the onset that relying on Oil would fail this country... Presido's unlucky for the full force of oil failure to fall during his tenure ... His making the citizens more pissed by travelling round the world and going on VACATION during such tough times... When Nigeria was America's No 2 oil producer, we felt we have a grip on World matters.. well, whites are SMART, they too knew it wouldn't last for so long.. they waited patiently... And now, the PowerHouse of Africa is falling, it relied so much on Oil as if there was nothing called TOMORROW.. #1 to $1, now #311 to $1... and it keeps rising.. Soon, this country will go back to being british black dogs.. God Save Nigeria.
