Yesterday, I lost hugely again
It has been like this on daily
For the past 4 months
"I will never play again"
Again, I vowed for the up tenth time
But this time, my soul felt the conviction
Gambling can never be my addiction
Last night, laying on my bed
My pillow under my head
My heart was filled with regrets and,
I felt the tears poured inside
Regrets! All the monies I have wasted
Monies that could have accomplish a purpose
A purpose either for myself, my mom, my sister,
or brother
I slept, I dreamt
I was having a nice time at the dinning table with my family.
I woke up feeling relieved.
"At least, I don finally stop am"
I said to myself.
I went about my daily business hopefully,
And silently praying that the Lord
Give me the grace to recover my losses
In due time
Business was kind of slow today,
A couple of customers came to pay up their debts
I was idle
"An idle mind is the devil workshop"
So they say
My idle mind is a WAR ZONE.
That I know
"Why be a coward and give up? Just because of some
In cure losses? How many years of hard labour in this business is it going to take before finally achieving your dreams? But, if I go back to that bet shop, I have a higher chance of loosing and end up having regrets. Abeg abeg, all die na die. Beside, if I don't try my luck, how am I suppose to quickly recover my losses? "
With that final resolve,
I stepped out of my shop
Locked the entrance gate
And heading to my doom.
