The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Tai local Government area of Rivers State, Wilson Nwibari confirmed the report. The plantation was one of the landmark projects of the immediate past Governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi. Eyewitnesses told DAILY POST that the fire was suspected to have been ignited by unidentified arsonists, adding that “it is purely an act of sabotage”. The banana plantation, located in Sogho, Tai Local Government Area of the state was established under the Public Private Partnership, PPP, with an Isreali firm. Meanwhile, the CTC Chairman, Nwibari told newsmen that the fire was ignited by a peasant farmer who tried to burn a small portion of her farm. He blamed the inferno on the weather, stating that the harmattan made the fire to spread into the Banana plantation. this is sabotage of the highest order by Wike's administration who is bent in destroying Amaechi's landmark achievements. this plantation is a whooping 2000 plus hectares of land that was initiated to make Rivers a banana exporting state. wike came in and allowed the plantation to be overgrown by weeds and and now got it burnt down  this is what he is currently doing with the beautiful schools, health centers, mono rail, greater PH, Rainbow Town, and other monumental projects initiated by the Amaechi's administration all abandoned. 2 Likes |

drshrewd: Sadly, it is the wish of many myopic Rivers Indigenes. Look at how many of them trooped out to celebrate corruption and thuggery. Dakuku was a vote of continuity of the great works of Gov. Amaechi. They chose against it and they get what they wanted. Armed Robbery is growing by the minute. |
