Information reaching me from Kogi state as at today 04/02/2016 is a ton of wet cashew selling for #260,000.00. Ogbomosho is yet to declare official price but it's being speculated at #280,000.00 to #300,000 per tonne.

Cashew as never been this high like this in the cashew history in Nigeria. Crude oil is crashing. Cashew is soaring. Let's see how it goes. Its a new dawn for cashew farmers. You will only have yourself to blame if you are doing nothing to cash in on this phenomenon

KOR means Kernel Out-turn Ration : this is the amount of quality nut we get from every 80kg of raw cashew nut (RCN). The count is in pounds per kg.

In addition to my dear friend Hotmas, the kernel is actually the substance found inside the cashewnut. That is what is roasted and eaten as snack after de-shelling.

The kernels after de-shelling weigh just about 29% of the entire weight of an 80kg bag. But during quality testing, it is measured in pounds (lbs). If you convert to kg, 50lbs/80kg is about 22-23kg of the 80kg bag. The shells carry over 70% of the remaining weight.
