You will see there was even a direct flight from Addis to Coal city yesterday 30-01-2016. Is always good to check facts first before saying them.

Our people did not disappoint us by refusing to fly the airline. The benefit are much to fly to Enugu. The airport traffic is growing gradually. It will some grow even bigger. But we still need pictures of the status of the international terminal

I don't like the fact that the FG determines which state progresses and which doesn't. I think the FG should start selling their stake in FG owned airports and seaports to States so that they an determine their destiny. I don't like the idea of photocopying airports all over the place.

The unitary system is largely stymying the progress of the component units. I agree with you on the selling the airports to the states or private corporations

That date u checked and wanted to book, if u didn't see Addis to Enugu, it means that their are no flights to Enugu that day cause the flight goes only on 3 days in a week(Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). So you must know some of this things to be able to book to Enugu direct. Also some days in the month of December, flight was fully booked. My brother, if you want to book, go to the website of the airline and not just a website of some agents. There was never a flight from Addis to Lagos to Enugu.

Ethiopian airlines have earned my admiration to be sincere. These folks are truly pan-African. They were the first airline to commit into the project Enugu International Airport. And If not for the zeal of the Ethiopians I wonder how the airport would have looked like. It would have just bore the tag international, with nothing connecting it with the outside world.
Ethiopian airlines have set the pace and others should follow in that direction.

Governor Ugwuanyi Moves To Revamp State Own Ailing Industries … Reconstitutes Bodies On Privatization And Commercialization.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State yesterday advanced the move of his administration to reinvigorate the economy of the state and boost her revenue base when he reconstituted two separate bodies on privatization and commercialization to revitalize the state-owned ailing industries.

Reconstituted are the Enugu State Council on Commercialization and Privatization and the Enugu State Technical Committee on Privatization and Commercialization headed by the State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo and a seasoned investment banker, Mr. Ikechi Chioke, respectively.

Governor Ugwuanyi while inaugurating the bodies at the Government House, Enugu, charged the members to swing into action immediately and effectively spearhead the drive for credible and suitable investors to turn around the fortunes of the affected enterprises and companies for its inherent economic benefits to the state.

He noted that the council and the committee have a vital role to play in the economic revival and the stability of the state in this moment of economic hardship.

Governor Ugwuanyi added that it is expected of both bodies to give fresh impetus to the current efforts by the government to attract direct foreign and local investments to the state as part of its commitment to turn the state into a major hub for economic activities in the country.

The Governor revealed that both bodies are expected to play a key role in the fourth coming international investment summit scheduled to hold in Enugu from 12th to 14th April, 2016 to showcase the numerous potentials of the state to investors around the world.

He therefore charged members of both bodies to deploy their integrity, experience and competences unreservedly towards the successful accomplishment of their set objectives

Responding on behalf of members of the bodies, the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Ezeilo thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve in that capacity and assured him of their commitment to ensure that the set objectives of the council and committee were actualized.

Turbulence in Enugu as herdsmen invade Abi
community

Fulani herdsmen attacked Abi community in
Enugu state
– Several lives were reportedly lost and
properties destroyed from the attack
– The death of one herdsman allegedly stirred
the rustlers raid
– Following the attack, many residents of the
community have been rendered homeless
– The locals have urged the government to bring
the perpetrators to justice

Life has reportedly refused to return to normal in
the agrarian community of Abi in Enugu state,
following an attack by herdsmen at the Uzo
Uwanilocal council area.
Breaking Times reports that the villagers in the
community are still counting their loses after the
attack on Tuesday, February 9, from the
suspected herdsmen. The attack led to the loss
of lives as-well-as the destruction of property
worth millions of naira.
Sources disclose that most of the villagers no
longer have a roof over their heads and live
under trees because of the destruction of their
houses by the rampaging cattle rustlers.
An unnamed eyewitness revealed that the terror
unleashed on Abi Community by the herdsmen
was occasioned by the killing of one of the
herdsmen who defiantly grazed his cattle in a
cassava farm that belonged to the villagers.

Another source said that the excesses of the
Fulani herdsmen had been a burden on the
community, even as they are tolerated among
the natives.
“There have been successive stories of Fulani
grazing in their farms and intimidating them with
firearms, raping their women in their farms as well
as maiming anyone that dared challenge them.
This may not be unconnected to the fact that
Hausas live in many parts of the local government
which shares a common boundary with Kogi state
(a north-central state).
“Thus, most of the Fulanis even have their own
houses, mosque and school in the LG. But the
major challenge between them has been the issue
of the visitors operating without restriction and
even ready to kill anyone who questions their will,”
the source said.
A native, Ezeugwu Emmanuel, said: “We were all
in the farm when more than 20 of them arrived,
some covering their faces. They shot me from the
back but I escaped.”
Ezeugwu narrated that 51-year-old Felix Okozie
wasn’t as lucky as he was. Okozie was shot at
the back and the chest at his cocoa yam farm.
As he tried to run, the assailants closed up on
him and butchered him with their cutlasses.
According to Ezeugwu, the assailants, as soon as
they gained entrance into the village square, set
many choice houses ablaze with gallons of petrol
in their possession. While some of them still tar
geted and shot at the villagers.
He said that Mrs Mercy Anyaogu (54) and her
first daughter Ugochukwu Okezie were shot as
they scampered for safety. Unfortunately, be
cause of her bullet wound, Mrs Mercy Anyaogu
couldn’t get far before they closed up on her and
butchered her.
Mr Felix Ugwuoke , a native, said the assailants,
suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, burnt his three
room apartment and kitchen to ashes while he
was still in the farm; everything was burnt to
ashes before his return.
“This cloth I’m wearing was given to me by my
neighbour who noticed that I was left with only
farm cloth I came back with; that is the only cloth
in my life now. My two wives and some of my 10
children have left to various places they could find
shelter but I have no place to go, which is why I
am sleeping under the tree,” Ugwuoke said.
Ugwuoke and many other Abi villagers are
pleading to the government and the police
authorities to carry out a thorough investigation
of the incident and bring the perpetrators to
justice.
Attempts to reach the Enugu state police
command spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, on
how far the police have gone with their
investigations proved abortive.
There have been a series of clashes between
cattle rustlers and farmers in various parts of the
country, it would be recalled that about 300
people were recently confirmed dead following a
siege on Agatu local government area of Benue
state. Traditional rulers in Ijebu-Igbo area of
Ogun state also claimed recently that farmlands
had been destroyed and women raped by Fulani
herdsmen in the area.
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an
investigation into the incessant bloody clashes
between Fulani herdsmen and various rural
farming communities where the itinerant
herdsmen graze their cattle. The president urged
Nigerians to live in peace and unity.
