Abia State had not been created then. As at 1976, when the coup took place, there were just two states, Anambra and Imo, in the east.

Afikpo at the time was in Imo State.

Yeah, southern parts of Ebonyi (Afikpo and the environs) were Imo then Abia, before being Ebonyi, while the northern parts of Ebonyi (Abakaliki and the environs) were Anambra then Enugu before being Ebonyi. Even Ebonyians (north and south) don't hear themselves unless they use general Igbo
