The fifth amendment of the United States constitution should be our target. Not shutting down the voice of the people. Mind you, any Gestapo technique applied now, will only serve the interest of the useless president. Perhaps the Social media bill can be applied, just that, nothing more |

op there is no way we can talk this matter without talking about political parties. Nigerians are respectful people, the insult started from APC when they were calling Dr. Jonathan "clueless President". They should expect more insults from Nigerians. OlujobaSamuel: that is the bane of the African society. we are afraid to criticize and call out our leaders when they fall short. no wonder they take us for granted. respect, like trust is earned, not freely given. they want our respect? let them come get it. when we keep defending them they become bolder in their atrocities. lets call a spade a spade and not a farm implement. that is the only way to make the next occupant of that office sit up. but when they know that their victims will also defend them, you might as well hand them the knife with which they will kill you. |

Ioannes:thanks for this response, am not against criticism sir, I criticized gej, and I have done same for pmb. I checked thread where this name calling that brought about this title was mentioned and someone, I think the 3rd or 4th post was even praising the name calling, that was not even the issue, but the ridiculous number of likes he got for the thrash was worrisome. I think we can express our displeasure with whoever is on a throne without insults. I once took my pastor on for tagging pmb names, I did same with my dad for calling gej names. If I can't correct the impression of those 2men, I see no reason why I should not embrace the life I preach. I have never supported gej, I have never insult him, I will never do it neither will I endorse it, that is why you can't see me liking such comment or posting or retweeting such even when made by someone I appreciate his views. |

OlujobaSamuel: "it never started with apc, it was just a trend which apc tapped into". The above statement which i extracted from your earlier comment is incorrect, APC during its formative years introduced, Nurtured and domesticated the use of insults as a party approved policy while referring to then president and one of the chief facilitators of the desecration of the office of the president then is El-Rufia, Lair Muhammed and the virus now spiraled out of control and infested so many Nigerians which remain unabated till date as it now the preferred mode of expression now in NL. OBJ & IBB's issues were personal and it did not degenerate further as both men ironed out their differences and moved on. 1 Like |

byrron:I cited utterances that came from the presidency as my example, not in anyway in support of that of elrufai or any other fellow. no personal issue should warrant those 2 to make such comment to one another. elrufai once made a comment on Jesus, considering that am a Christian, do you think I'm in support of such? it's either our action is wrong or right, there is no fence to sit on. am not here to trade blame on who started or promoted it, but to see to its end. wrong is wrong right is right, no fence. |

duality: You know, the OP is right. But I couldn't help but notice how he intelligently turned the whole thing, saying GEJ was insulting other leaders. Every Nigerian know that APC insulted the immediate past president to the depths of hell; it was stomach-turning. The OP is obviously hypocritical, and a Buhari supporter, but he should have written this post without distorting facts. 1 Like |

GreyLaw:I think I owe you a response, but not the dude below you. I supported PMB against GEJ, no need to deny that, I will love it if you can help with where I distort facts, also read the opening thread carefully and my subsequent comments, I was in no way blaming GEJ, but more concerned about our morals as humans. I cited a case, that case happened when gej wasn't even having a mindset of becoming the president. Our words go a long way, that's why I try as much as possible to avoid insult because I don't know how my opponent can handle such emotionally. Words led to wars which only the dead is right, while every other living soul after the war is guilty except those born at the end of the war. |

OlujobaSamuel:Your veiled hipocrisy is unfortunately alarming. Trying to rope in Gej who is the chief and first victim of Presidential insults as a perpetrator is one of the reasons why such insults will never stop. You are probably trying not to offend your fellow APC guys by trying to start the history with irrelevant exchange of words between obj and ibb who were no longer in office. Even that is very clear and you can't possibly twist it badly enough to us not to see your hipocrisy. The undeniable fact remains that APC started it and you lots were enjoying it even if you are not doing it. Unfortunately for APC they didn't know they will be in government so soon and much more they never expected such woeful failures from Buhari. You guys thought he will wave his hand and everything will change. You guys should just reap what you showed. Meanwhile I don't do Presidential insults but I won't like you deny that I don't enjoy watching people do it. 3 Likes |

olyivy:see what you said in your last paragraph. thanks to God you never tied me to a comment insulting GEJ. this is where our problem lies, you see evil and keep quiet just because you enjoyed it, you are as guilty as those perpetuating the evil. I was in no way hanging gej, read carefully please. gej was a victim, pmb is currently a bigger victim, the next will be bigger than both combined, or do you think the trend will stop if we don't stop. Yaradua was also insulted if you don't remember, let me remind you, ASUU was on strike for months and yaradua was in saudi arabia commissioning a university, you and I know what the reaction to that was at that time. I know we are not perfect, but we have no reason not to work towards perfection as humans. Am in support of good governance that affects the masses and not juat elites. |

We are a country of polarised and highly opinionated people. We lack decorum as a people, and we always want our voices to be heard first. At the end of the day, everybody is talking and no one is listening. It's a vicious cycle that we have put ourselves. So deal with it until Buhari leaves office come 2019. Then, we will pounce on the next executives. That's the way we roll! |
