for all the apc started it crew, I hope you kindly read where I mentioned ibb and obj, this happened in 2009. Also, what led to this topic was an insult on gej and not on the sitting president, a one time president of this nation will always be referred to as the president, if you think it's a thing to rejoice in for your head of family to be mocked or insulted at will by every dick, tom and harry, wait till you become the head of family and you know the damage you have done.
PMB will die, GEJ surely will die, our utterances will live on. A little mistake will be seen as an avenue to insult.
The north will not be on that sit forever, the south will not be there forever, apc, pdp nor any other party will be there forever, but the occupant will always be a victim of the trend.
Gej was only a victim because it started before him, it only grows, Pmb is currently a victim with a measure bigger than that of gej, the next irrespective of who, where and how he got there will definitely be a victim of bigger measures than that of pmb.
last year, I reviewed my post in criticism of gej and other public officers, and i was happy, not because of the criticism, but because no one can go through my comments online and say I crossed the line.
If you like, change, if you like don't, you will reap it all from apc to pdp to Christians to Muslims to Pagans and every other of their kind.

What a trash. The zoo called Nigeria does not deserve any respect talk less of an animal residing in the zoo. Most Nigerians are deluded to a fault.

You would scored more points if you had also charged Our leaders to stop using derogatory and incisive statements on their subjects or people they seek to govern in a civilized 21st century country like ours. Not too long ago, a certain presidential hopeful seeking for votes of nigerians refered to the citizens as dogs and baboons, he went futher to say that their blood will flow freely if he looses the election. Guess what, he lost, and made good his threats also.

Who shall then bell the cat?

The fifth amendment of the United States constitution should be our target. Not shutting down the voice of the people. Mind you, any Gestapo technique applied now, will only serve the interest of the useless president. Perhaps the Social media bill can be applied, just that, nothing more

op there is no way we can talk this matter without talking about political parties. Nigerians are respectful people, the insult started from APC when they were calling Dr. Jonathan "clueless President".
They should expect more insults from Nigerians.

I have never been a fan of gej since the days of $50k bribery saga during his time as president after the. demise of yaradua, I will never make a mistake of voting for him either then nor now, you can check my previous comment, he was even one of the initiator by calling the leaders of a region touts and also referring to a former HOS as motor park tout, however, I see all these as flimsy excuses to address him as was done by The Economists.
Moreover, he is not yet convicted, so issue of alleged corruption should not attract such dehumanizing title. If this persists, a day will come where our kids will see it as nothing wrong to address we their parents in such manner for any perceived wrong melted out towards them just because they saw our comments made online towards the current leaders.
The effect is not today but tomorrow, what we are witnessing is just a tip of the iceberg.

that is the bane of the African society. we are afraid to criticize and call out our leaders when they fall short. no wonder they take us for granted.

respect, like trust is earned, not freely given. they want our respect? let them come get it.

when we keep defending them they become bolder in their atrocities.

lets call a spade a spade and not a farm implement.

that is the only way to make the next occupant of that office sit up.

but when they know that their victims will also defend them, you might as well hand them the knife with which they will kill you.

thanks for this response, am not against criticism sir, I criticized gej, and I have done same for pmb.
I checked thread where this name calling that brought about this title was mentioned and someone, I think the 3rd or 4th post was even praising the name calling, that was not even the issue, but the ridiculous number of likes he got for the thrash was worrisome.
I think we can express our displeasure with whoever is on a throne without insults.
I once took my pastor on for tagging pmb names, I did same with my dad for calling gej names. If I can't correct the impression of those 2men, I see no reason why I should not embrace the life I preach.
I have never supported gej, I have never insult him, I will never do it neither will I endorse it, that is why you can't see me liking such comment or posting or retweeting such even when made by someone I appreciate his views.

[s]check well, it's not a party issue, it never started with apc, it was just a trend which apc tapped into.
obj and ibb first insulted themselves, then 2011 at ibadan, gej called some people tout, later doyin okupe said he shud be called a bastard, ffk started the clueless rant and even end up to become the image designer for the so called clueless during election. All this happened before or at baby stage of apc.
it's about the citizens not the party.[/s]

The above statement which i extracted from your earlier comment is incorrect, APC during its formative years introduced, Nurtured and domesticated the use of insults as a party approved policy while referring to then president and one of the chief facilitators of the desecration of the office of the president then is El-Rufia, Lair Muhammed and the virus now spiraled out of control and infested so many Nigerians which remain unabated till date as it now the preferred mode of expression now in NL.

OBJ & IBB's issues were personal and it did not degenerate further as both men ironed out their differences and moved on.

I cited utterances that came from the presidency as my example, not in anyway in support of that of elrufai or any other fellow.
no personal issue should warrant those 2 to make such comment to one another.
elrufai once made a comment on Jesus, considering that am a Christian, do you think I'm in support of such? it's either our action is wrong or right, there is no fence to sit on.
am not here to trade blame on who started or promoted it, but to see to its end.
wrong is wrong right is right, no fence.

This is not the first, and I bet it won't be the last if nothing is done, that's why I support PMB in arresting any one found committing libel/slander all in the name of freedom of speech.
OBJ and IBB once started this unholy adventure when they called each other a fool to celebrate IBB's birthday in 2009, GEJ took it to another height by calling the leaders of a certain region "touts", not done, he went further to insult a former president during election related campaigns, his wife did same by calling a former HOS brain dead, all these, coupled with the citizens lack of understanding in branding and re-branding of our leaders name gave The Economists the confidence to carry out such utterance.
Nigerians, please stop insulting the president, one day, you might be the occupant, same measures, pressed down further, shaken together shall be applied unto you.

SORRY is the @op, refusing to admit that the insult was the highest against GEJ and not the way he's putting it as if GEJ went about insulting people. With this kind of pseudo objectivity, these insult will not stop. Even when the said GEJ is out of office, his opponent will wan't to use every opportunity to still insult him. Yet you still think those who support him will not want to retaliate?

We have sown a bad seed and it's deep rooted. For instance, search the threads opened when Patience Jonathan was in the hospital for treatment in Germany and review it. It was so bad that a veteran journalist said on TV. I don't know where this level of hate is coming from... This is outside any arm scandal that people will want to latch on. Just do an objective review on it and see for yourself.

Sorry, but the evil will leave for a long time especially since the present government and their supporters are not ready for healing after a highly contentious election. The international community will be brazen with their insult and the cohesiveness of the country will not be there since it's going to be a sectional thing also. Therefor anyone who says anything that questions the people in power, such a person will be seen as from a region or IPBO.

It's a little late but tthose in government can bring about healing or it will continue. You'll never see anything good in the other person.

You know, the OP is right. But I couldn't help but notice how he intelligently turned the whole thing, saying GEJ was insulting other leaders. Every Nigerian know that APC insulted the immediate past president to the depths of hell; it was stomach-turning. The OP is obviously hypocritical, and a Buhari supporter, but he should have written this post without distorting facts.

That's how people from his side behave. The Op and his people are like chameleon, very cunning and hypocritical. Instead of the OP to strongly condemn what APC instituted, he cleverly turn it around. It's pathetic

I think I owe you a response, but not the dude below you.
I supported PMB against GEJ, no need to deny that, I will love it if you can help with where I distort facts, also read the opening thread carefully and my subsequent comments, I was in no way blaming GEJ, but more concerned about our morals as humans. I cited a case, that case happened when gej wasn't even having a mindset of becoming the president.
Our words go a long way, that's why I try as much as possible to avoid insult because I don't know how my opponent can handle such emotionally.

Your veiled hipocrisy is unfortunately alarming.
Trying to rope in Gej who is the chief and first victim of Presidential insults as a perpetrator is one of the reasons why such insults will never stop.
You are probably trying not to offend your fellow APC guys by trying to start the history with irrelevant exchange of words between obj and ibb who were no longer in office. Even that is very clear and you can't possibly twist it badly enough to us not to see your hipocrisy.
The undeniable fact remains that APC started it and you lots were enjoying it even if you are not doing it.
Unfortunately for APC they didn't know they will be in government so soon and much more they never expected such woeful failures from Buhari. You guys thought he will wave his hand and everything will change.
You guys should just reap what you showed.
Meanwhile I don't do Presidential insults but I won't like you deny that I don't enjoy watching people do it.

see what you said in your last paragraph. thanks to God you never tied me to a comment insulting GEJ.
this is where our problem lies, you see evil and keep quiet just because you enjoyed it, you are as guilty as those perpetuating the evil.
I was in no way hanging gej, read carefully please. gej was a victim, pmb is currently a bigger victim, the next will be bigger than both combined, or do you think the trend will stop if we don't stop. Yaradua was also insulted if you don't remember, let me remind you, ASUU was on strike for months and yaradua was in saudi arabia commissioning a university, you and I know what the reaction to that was at that time.
I know we are not perfect, but we have no reason not to work towards perfection as humans.

We are a country of polarised and highly opinionated people. We lack decorum as a people, and we always want our voices to be heard first. At the end of the day, everybody is talking and no one is listening.

It's a vicious cycle that we have put ourselves. So deal with it until Buhari leaves office come 2019. Then, we will pounce on the next executives.
