Before our own eyes and eyes of 170 million Nigerians and
more importantly before camera lenses inside the sacred
Parliament House, The Commander-In-Chief presented the
budget of change which he called a turnaround for Nigeria.
It was not by mistake that the budget proposal bears the
signature of Mr President. It is therefore surprising that we
are being told that budget Mafias have dominated the
national Government. And to make matter worse, The
Commander-In-Chief has ordered a probe on a proposal
under which he personally appended his own signature.
Would it mean that His Excellency never knew what was
contained in the budget he followed to the National
Assembly? The Ministers of Information, Communication,
Health, Education among others have all dissociated
themselves from the budget contents relating to their
respective ministries.
I have never heard of any such development since 1999 that
budgets are being submitted every year to the joint
chambers of the NASS. To this extent, I agree this is change
era. A change from tight budgeting to a loose one!
It is about time that everybody should shelve toga of
partisanship and come together to safe Nigeria from this
kind of mess or embarrassment. No matter how much the
international community may love President Buhari or if he
chooses to continue to travel outside Nigeria every week like he has been doing, Nigeria is likely to suffer global ridicule for her inability to submit simple budget. If it is hard to have budget submitted without controversy, how can we be sure that implementation will not become tedious? Those who called Former President Jonathan an ineffectual buffoon must be sought again. Buhari needs to be named or
christened.... Credit to ABS for this write up.
