I admire the mentality behind this scheme, however, we do not have the infrastructure to ensure compliance. E.G; what database it dedicated to keeping track of proceedings, penalties and sentences? Nigeria! Always trying to reach 3 before 2.
Let's say I am the owner of nairaland, I'll give you the price of intelligence. You got the only meaningful reply here.

But let's rephrase it, they always wanna reach 10 before 1. Probably because 0 and 1 aint that fat or prob Nigeria didn't see the difference cell between 01 and 10.

Rubbish Policy without good policy planning and programme design. SHM

Traffic laws my brother's foot when our so called policemen and lastma are still collecting bribes from commuters loading on the highway leaving only one lane on a road meant to operate fast 4lanes

I feel pains as a Nigerian

Check kola bus stop along abeokuta expressway

You will see the attrausities been commited by our popularly know Damfo and LT drivers they block the 4lanes meant for every one in the name of picking passengers there.then i stay at Ifo ogun state even if i move out by 5am this craziness from our brothers will cost me extra 1hour before i get to Maryland and yet we are talking of mobile court? Which mobile court exist when we still face many stress from this self centered personells on our highways? Will be happy if i see those yellow buses here also.

I'll take it with a pinch of salt until I see them arrest manic and irresponsible drivers along Lagos-Badagry Expressway, who constitute a nuisance to other road users; who brazenly flout all traffic laws with impunity.Until I see these nitwits being arrested and prosecuted,I'll, at best, regard it as a whisper and not a voice.

The correct word is "constitutes nuisance" and not "constitute a nuisance. A is used to qualify an object or a person and perhaps noun in it's entirety.

Look, until i see damfo drivers prosecuted before i will thumbs up for you. else for now, its still a trial and error kinda thing. Damfo drivers are the major constructors of road traffic offences in Lagos.

@Sveen,thank you for pointing it out to me! But, it shows your insufferable arrogance!.How much of grammar do you do or know to pontificate? I can argue and prove to you that I can be at liberties with the structures of a language.
Please, look up all the possible uses of the word, nuisance in the dictionary before you come back to play God with grammar.

This mobile court sounds fantastic but it is a well concocted rubbish whose decision will be easily upturned in a higher court of competent jurisdiction. before you can listen to cases like this, in tandem with the principle of fair hearing, you have to give the defendant a reasonable time to prepare their defence. A speedy trial like this negates the principle of fair hearing which is cardinal in any proceeding.

Re: Traffic Offenders Arraigned At Mobile Court Launched By The LASG (pics) by archer1(m): 8:31pm On Feb 17, 2016
Im no lawyer but i can spot a lot of flaws in this 'brilliantly executed policy'.

To start with, this is taking the word 'open court' to a new level. They could use an enclosed space and still call it a mobile court. I agree it doesn't affect the justice served, but it doesn't help by torturing everybody present with intense heat from the blazing sun.

Additionally, are suspects allowed to consult their lawyers? Or to ensure a speedy process, are they denied that privileged? Is legal council provided for those that cant afford a lawyer?

Finally, what form of evidence is provided to the court? Or is it all 'hear-say'? When did' hearsay' evidence become admissible in the court of law? I understand that this kind of justice system is being practised in some countries. However, transfering such policy to a country like Nigeria that doesnt have the right infrastructure (eg functioning traffic cam) is not a particularly good idea.

I wont talk about sentencing and monitoring of convictions as someone as touched this earlier.

I believe in Lagos and the government's efficacy. It is a move in the right direction but we have jumped a lot of steps.

with the hisory we have as a nation, as reagrds starting things, am sorry to say, seeing this setting with some men in suit sitting outside under the open heavens

all i kan say is THIS WOULD NOT LAST

if dey are serious bout mobile courts they would find a better structure.
