There is an exciting opportunity for a communications intern/assistant to join a growing company in Lagos. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual looking to make an impact and gain communications and PR experience and be part of the growth of an exciting initiative.

Main responsibilities and tasks will include:
• Media monitoring, logging and preparing media reports and press releases
• Drafting reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Assisting with media contact list management
• Managing the company’s social media channels and keeping it active and engaging with relevant content and timely updates on the company’s programmes and activities
• Assist in the maintenance of the company’s website
• Contribute to and build email newsletters
• Monitoring and responding to messages from supporters, partners and stakeholders
• Contributing to communications strategies and projects around particular initiatives and events
• Contributing to the broader strategic, programmatic and communications work of the organisation
• Desk research as required.

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
• A good University degree is required. Any further qualification and practical experience in communications and external relations is desirable
• Relevant professional communications experience, possibly engaging with non-governmental or civil society organisations
• Excellent written English skills and ability to write for different audiences, including online
• Some knowledge or experience of using social media to advance a social issue or campaign
• Understanding of how digital technology can support and enhance internal and external communications, advocacy and others
• Accuracy and an eye for detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and cultures
• Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
• Proficiency in the latest versions of Microsoft Office
• Experience using social media tools, email marketing tools, content management systems (WordPress preferable), and experience using media tools and databases desirable.


Terms and compensation
The internship will be offered for a period of up to six months. A generous stipend is paid during the internship and a full time employment offer could be made based on the performance during the internship.
