mydreams25:You'll have to look for creative ways to engage him so he will forget the bobby that's all. As it is perhaps he's just sucking out of habit and not hunger. Use his toys and tv to distract him, avoid exposing bobby around him. And ignore him when he's cranky and crying. God be with you lol |

adaokwy13:It requires patience!!! Allow her to get very hungry, then try the food. Soya maize and pap arent so sweet, it's milk that gives them better taste. Put milk and keep trying, after some time she will accept. As for the cereal, try rice cereals. At 6 months, my daughter didnt accept gerber rice but when i tried cerelac rice and milk for 6months - she ate it well and wanted more. Try different ones and don't give up after first trial. At this age, they want the smoothest and sweetest cereal. My daughter vomited soya maize several times before accepting it. So keep trying and please give water after each feed to avoid constipation. Well done! |

adaokwy13:You need to be very patient with her.My son is almost 8 months and he's just starting to take Cerelac and Gerber yoghurt well(not too much tho).Just be persistent, don't try to give her too much at a time.If you're making cereal for her don't make it too thick, let it be a little runny. She would fight with you o but even if it's 2 spoons she's taking at a time just keep at it and be patient with her.All the best. |

mydreams25:I think it would be best to map out a plan and stick to it. How many times in a day do you breastfeed him? It would be easier for both you and your baby if you wean gradually rather than abruptly. If for example he sucks like 6 times a day,the week you start the weaning process you can reduce it to 5 times, the next week 4times,the next 3times. Gradually like that until once(say at night) to once in 2 days before you withdraw completely. You can give him milk or water at night instead or even tea. Just make sure it is closeby so that you can give him before he is fully awake. Trust me,he'll protest initially but will adjust and get used to it after a while. Gradual withdrawal will most likely save you problems associated with engorgement(it's painful o and with no one to help hold him for you, it'll be easy for you to give up and continue giving him as he wants) and incessant crying if u withdraw it from him at once. As babythug suggested you would have to look for creative ways to distract him when he demands for it outside of the plan. And my dear if you truly wish to wean your LO,the heat would be the least of your worries. Bobby must be covered when he isn't sucking! By exposing them you're only encouraging him to demand for it even when he doesn't need or want it. Out of sight is out of mind. The decision and process of weaning isn't an easy one to take. It's easy to give up after a day or 2 of trying and especially when your LO cries incessantly for it. Would have been easier if you were working but as it is you would have to make a strong resolve and stick to it! Wish you all the best. |
