the igbo are proud of your achivements even though you shouldnt have attended that meeting that claimed your life
He was warned. He was told about the coup that was coming. Unfortunately, Ironsi believed in 'one Nigeria' and that's what claimed his life. Ojukwu was the one who recieved his body at Enugu Airport and buried him in his hometown of Umuahia.

which one be posthumous birthday ? the person don die. Birthday should be for people who are alive. For people who are dead ,it should dead day wink
posthumous comes from Latin — post means "after" and
humare , "to bury. posthumous happens after a person is dead,.

The man called 'Ironside'. Such a man. Pity tribal and religious sentiment was the instrument that lead to his downfall.

Waste man. grin

I think there should be a summit on NLwhere folks can discuss Nigerian heroes, especially past leaders. Apart from Murtala Muhammed and his OAU speech, which was like one of the greatest speeches ever by an African leader - I don't think Nigeria has any hero. Awolowo never ruled Nigeria, so he's out of the equation.

Mynd44, make that happen.

he forced a unitary style on government on the country, and this is the foundation of corruption, inefficiency, wastage, backwardness that we faced today. the Igbo are crying marginalization now but if he had allowed the regional style of government to remain his pple wont be second class citizens in their country

he opened the door to military rule which has created a barbaric violent mentality in Nigeria. he had the opportunity to rein in his boy and return them to the barracks, but the sweet soup of leadership was too tempting

we should all learn from this not to prioritize selfish short term gains over the greater good of the majority

What a country.. The other day Buhari was smiling sheepishly at Muritala Mohammed birthday and I was wondering why Nigerian leadership has failed to even honor the first president of this so called country, Nnamdi Azikiwe.. But prefer to honour coupe plotters like muritala.

Zik's mausoleum is lying-in ruins.. "to humble an empire ;it makes sense to desecrate it temple"--Buddha.
That is what the nigerian state has done to Zik's memory and the south east in general.

That is how we have chosen to respect "our freedom fighter, independence hero," someone who preferred to be nationalist than to be seen as ibo man.. And somebody wants to force Nigerian allegiance on mehuh
