Recall the story published earlier by this blog on a gas explosion at the College of Health Sciences, Nnewi which killed one Radiography intern and injured 3 medical students with one severely burnt.

News has it that one of the survivors, Uchenna Ogbu (Urchman) has lost the battle for survival as he died yesterday. Uche is a 500 level medical student and contested for the presidency of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Medical Students Association (NAUMSA) presidential Elections.

Many of his friends have taken to various social media platforms to mourn the demise of Urchman.

My fellow Nigerian Medical Students, with heavy hearts full of pain but with gratitude to God, we sadly announce the death of a great NiMSAite COMR. OGBU UCHENNA CHRISTIAN a 500lvl Medical student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, he hails from Onicha Agu-Amagunze In Nkanu East LGA of Enugu State. He was an active public servant and before his demise was a Presidential aspirant in the forthcoming NAUMSA (Nnamdi Azikiwe University Medical Students Association) elections.

Comr. Uchenna died in the early hours of today; Thursday 3rd of March, 2016 in the National Orthopedic hospital, Enugu State.
Urchmann as he was fondly called was involved in an inferno due to a gas explosion in his lodge last week. He received proper medical attention, it was believed that Urchmann was stable and appropriately responding to treatment, his friends and family were constantly around him until his untimely demise this morning.

COMR. OGBU UCHENNA CHRISTIAN was a committed NAUMSAite, he was the immediate past Vice chairman of NAUMSA health week and he also served as the Special Adviser to the immediate Past NAUMSA President.
On behalf of the NiMSA National President; Comr. Haruna Musa Kereng and the entire NiMSA populace we sympathize with Comr. Ogbu Uchenna's family and friends we pray for his happy repose and that God will fill the vacuum he has left in the hearts of his family and friends, may God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss. AMEN.
Truly NAUMSA and NiMSA has lost a great man!
