The leaders : Do they even get to read all this post? They're more concern and concentrated on public opinion only during election periods. Our leaders need real orientation as regard governance. All i see is total confusion and party crisis. |

"As advanced as Britain is, the Governor of the Bank of England was recruited from Canada. No one raised eyebrows because the most important thing was getting the job done" This cannot happen in Nigeria of today. If either of CBN Governor or Minister of Finance is sacked and replaced by competent people from another Geo-political zone for example, I trust Nigerians will start singing tribal songs. Until we see liberating Nigeria as a general course, we are tied moving around a fixed radius. |

We need God intervention in this country. Both APC and PDP are the same.politicians can easily swap within the parties within a day, *all politicians are liers* none of them is honest except if we will be deceiving ourself. They are just deceiving us, playing us up and down like football.

It is even an insult to the youths including me who voted for Buhari to think that we voted for him just because he promised us meager monthly stipend of N5000. For how long will he even be able to pay that, 1 year or 4 years? The truth is that 99% of people crying because of this peanut are wailers. |

Logically, no sane man should expect APC To change the Nation overnight, with their daring manifestos.. They have good wishes, but politicking won't allow most of these wishes to come to past..They just offered us a liberation form PDP's power drunk leadership.. The best thing APC could offer us, is Buhari's Presidency.. He seems to have 'what most 9ja Politicians lack' - INTEGRITY.. Let's hope this will count in the long run! |

One major thing we failed to observe as a nation was that APC alongside their information media and their payed ASUU did everything to frustrate the last government.. have you ever asked yourself why GEJ would set himself up to fail so woefully if there was no one or a group actualizing a propaganda.. Now they have got the power, do they really think the methods they used to get there will not be used against them?.. what pains me is that all these power tussle is at the detriment of my beloved Nigeria.. APC and PDP are our greatest problems of which APC be the worse |

Nairaland. Too many young people. First of all let me say that Niveria is very lucky to have Buhari. He is actually one of the "ruling class" but the only one who probably cares about the common man. His trips abroad are not frivolous. Only on Nairaland will people say such "amateurish" things. That a leader of bkack Africas largest country will go to another country with a delegation for frivolity. There is a lot of money to make in Nigeria, there is a lot of stolen money to return to Nigeria. There are lots of weapons to buy for the armed forces. Buhari went to the North during campaigns and promised textile manufacturers, tanneries and agro allied industries a boom . The financing to do that is coming from the GCC countries. They need to grow the northern middle class and develop the north east. Only a bunch of narrow minded, parochial , local people don't realise that things are happening . My message to IPOB, you will soon see what the North can be in a few years and they wont use oil money. On the 5000 Naira for the poorest I million people, Dele Momodu has really disappointed me. How can an accomplished Yoruba man be reasoning like an IPOD youth? So i put it simply: THERE IS NOWHERE IN THE APC MANIFESTO WHERE 5K IS MENTIONED. The programme is from the fine mind of the Vice President and if i know him well he will make sure it is actualised but it is not and has never been in the APC manifesto |

thawgy:So, APC was the party that advised him to stick with Aba Moro till the very last end of his tenure? APC was the reason he said we were exaggerating corruption? APC was the reason he said that stealing is not corruption? Sanusi said 20 billion dollars was missing from NNPC accounts, Okonjo said (after accounts reconciliation) that it was 12 billion dollars but GEJ say that if any money was missing at all, America will know (sic). Moronic statement I would call it, if you ask me. That's also APC. May be you should go back to your sleep. |

I expect these APC people to apologise to GEJ and his Ministers seeing that the scenario is like that of a spectator blaming the foot baller for not scoring only for him to get to the field to find out that he could not even move the ball. They should go and beg Aunty Ngozi and other Ministers to come and help them out. |
| Re: Dele Momodu Wants Apc To Change It's Manifesto Because Of Buhari by Nobody: 11:02am On Mar 06, 2016 |
APC wanted to wrest power from PDP so badly that it had to co-opt Buhari who doesn't share any of its political ideals. Buhari on the other hand wanted to be President so badly that he allowed himself in the mix of the dregs in APC and accepted their corrupt campaign funding. APC ran the campaigns with unrealistic walfarist manifesto while Buhari chose his words and made few promises; even though he didn't stop APC Campaign from promising heaven on earth. After winning, Buhari seems to have rejected APC Campaign promises and wants us to hold him to his words. There's a huge gap between Buhari's vision and APC agenda and it's affecting Policy. Buhari also brought in outsiders into his government and sidelined his party. |

The time has come to declare an emergency on an evil economic apparatus foisted on us by selfish people that may end up ruining our otherwise great country. I believe we should rise above partisan politics and bring our past and present geniuses together including The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, The Governor of the Central Bank, Mr Godwin Emefiele, The Emir of Kano, His Highness Lamido Sanusi, Professor Charles Soludo, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, Professor Part Utomi, Mr Bismark Rewane, and some of our brilliant University dons to fashion out a way out of this scandalous debacle. Most of the above are just names -- good on paper. We need brilliant minds who can think out of the box. The next thing is for this government to reflect true frugality and shed the toga of prodigality that is already rearing its ugly head. The President should be alerted about how those outside now believe he has already joined the psychedelic class by wasting resources on flights of fancy and excessively flamboyant and ostentatious airport ceremonies. The social media caught fire last Monday as the pictures of our Brigade of Guards in Scottish kilt fully piped up welcomed the President on his arrival from his Middle East tour went viral. Such frivolity did not reflect the mood of the nation. The President’s winning formula had always been his simplicity, humility and childlike innocence. He must resist the temptation of being corrupted by the carpetbaggers who litter our corridors of power. Running the different tiers of government has been a major drain on our economy. It is also the reason the citizens would not change their ways when government refuses to set good examples. Please tell them. Everything humanly possible should be done to empower and encourage Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola to give us power. There will never be any meaningful development and progress until we can generate enough electricity and be able to transmit and distribute this effectively. When people shout that we should patronize made in Nigeria products they conveniently forget that most of what we use in making the made in Nigeria products were fabricated and made abroad. At best we are only an assembly line for these products. An average company loses its profit to what should have been provided ordinarily by government. I cannot begin to overemphasise the importance of electricity. Nigerians will never forget whoever can put an end to their life in perpetual darkness. It is worth every effort and investment. The most important part of the epistle. |

ozoemenaca:Lol. People who couldn't manage our economy and turn things around when oil was selling for 130 dollars per barrel. Now you want them to come and do magic with 30 dollars per barrel. Aunty Okonjo was already borrowing money to pay salaries of Federal workers by the time she left office, she said it herself. |

Times are hard, poor economy, lean foreign reserves...it is logical to see that its not possible to pay 5k stipends...but to lie about it by telling Nigerians that you did not campaign with it is a terrible thing to do...Nigerians are watching and waiting... |
| Re: Dele Momodu Wants Apc To Change It's Manifesto Because Of Buhari by Nobody: 1:09pm On Mar 06, 2016 |
RZArecta:Fix the power supply in this country....and you fix the economy. We have to increase generation. No two ways about it. Nigeria now can generate 5000mw max. We need 12000MW daily. That tells me a lot about why our economic structure is awful. Re Austerity. You called my austerity paln quixotic. The cold reality is that our economy IS dependent on oil, and oil prices have dropped. If Nigerians, and their government cannot respond to that with tough austeirty measures, accompanied by increased spending on railand power......things that would get us off the trapof oil dependency......we are not going anywhere. There is no money. We are not a rich nation. THAT IS WHY CORRUPTION MUST BE STOPPED., NOT EXCUSED. That's the way the cookie crumbles. |

| Re: Dele Momodu Wants Apc To Change It's Manifesto Because Of Buhari by Nobody: 1:14pm On Mar 06, 2016 |
heffem:Which is what I mean by cutting government excesses. But that won't be enough. The cold reality is that we are no longer earning the cash. We have to make tough choices now. Cut spending on subsides, politician salaries, govt expenditure.....and spend the money on power, rail, primary and secondary education, technical education, roads.......so that we can go industrial. |
| Re: Dele Momodu Wants Apc To Change It's Manifesto Because Of Buhari by Nobody: 1:19pm On Mar 06, 2016 |
RZArecta:Let's start with time.....in my opinion, we need ten years. First....we need to add 5000mw.Now...there are plans to add 2400mw via two nuclear power stations.I propose we add five new gas fired stations over the next ten years, and we also add solar powered projects in collabo with Niger Republic. Second....we spend more on transmission. Transmission is a mess. The DISCOS inherited ancient transmission systems which need fixing.Once we do that....we can get better power supply. My ten year time frame factors in the fact that it takes time to design power stations....and we also have to modernize our gas supply urgently. Do that....and we are moving forward. (We can also build power plants fired by waste products/refuse ). |

adipemcanis1:good, I actually set that question as a trap to see if you're amongst those who argue blindly over things that know absolutely nothing about but I can see you have a good grasp of what you're talking about here. Sorry if I sounded harsh earlier on but I think your time frame for improved power supply (10 years) is too short. Reasons being the dearth of basic infrastructure across the country. It's one thing to design/import equipment for DISCO's/GENCO's, it's another thing to get them to many of the remote locations where they will have to be stationed and that's why you find out that many of the equipment bought far back as Obasanjo's tenure were abandoned at the ports (I think some were released under Gej). You've talked about transmission too, I believe you've traveled around Nigeria by road so you know how vast this country is. Add our normal bureaucracy and you've got a very nice cocktail kicking your 10 years time frame in the buttocks. |
