Obinna Durumchukwu, a 34-year-old Nigerian has been
stabbed to death in India.

He was allegedly murdered by his roommate also a Nigerian at
their Nalasopara home on Sunday, March 6.


Times-of-India reports that the victim celebrated his 34th
birthday on Saturday, March 5, he and his room mate were
partying at their Agarwal Nagri home in Nalasopara.

The party went on till 9am on Sunday. Both were drunk. They
got into a fight and hurled empty glass bottles on each other.

The roommate picked up one such glass piece lying on the
floor and stabbed Obinna on his neck. He died on the spot.

Neighbours who heard the screams alerted the Tuling police.

The roommate, whose name is given as Michal Chukwuma,
has been arrested.

Police said the fight was stirred by a dispute over a football
game. Adding that Obinna’s passport had expired on January
24, 2016 and he was staying illegally.

Tulinj police spokesman, Inspector Sunil Jadhav told PTI that
Chukwuma has been arrested and a case under section 302
(murder) of IPC has been registered and investigations are
underway.
