Good day everyone.

I recently want to go into agro business (poultry farming) for the sole purpose of making profits and by God's grace, I have a sizable capital.

The question now is, do I go into poultry farming for meat production or do I go into poultry farming for egg production?

I want the one that's more profitable that's why I need the advice from experienced people here.

There is none that is more profitable than the other. one thing you must know is that poultry farming wether for eggs or for birds is a highly profitable market especially with the ban on imports in place.
however, there are certain points you have to consider if you want to either rear birds or get eggs for sale.

For eggs, you will need to put in some work in selecting the right birds and giving them the right feed. then when it is time to market them, you have to target people that buy in bulk, including eateries, schools, companies as well as wholesalers in the market if your yield is large.
For broilers, you will also take good care of them till they are large and if you want to make them attractive, ensure you kill and clean it and sell it as whole chicken, people will rush to get from you. you can also target wholesalers and large consumers.

Breed for egg it is more profitable and when the layers are old they could be sold off as meat. Double profit

Layers are much more profitable, but their risk is exponential! Plus they take a longer time before you start gaining (around 20weeks).
Broilers on the other hand give much lower profit about 1/3 of layers. However, their risk is minimal, and they take less than 8weeks to harvest.
Bottom line: go for layers but get ready to stand on your toes throughout their lifetime. All the best.
