P0171 is not a maf code. Cleaning your maf with carb and choke is wrong. Instead u clean with methylated spirit. I think ur code is a lean fuel trim code. If your maf is bad it will throw a maf specific code . Check for vacuum leak. Better reclean that ur maf with spirit or u get ready for replacement soon.

That your scanner throw a sensor code doesnt mean the sensor is compulsorily bad. What further test has your tech guy done to conclude that the issue is from the MAF sensor and not from the wiring or the connector.
Remove the sensor from the connector and connect to a multimeter and blow air on it and see if you can get response on your multimeter.That is a rough test of checking if the sensor is good if you cannot probe your wiring connectors and check sensor resistance.
Anytime you have a code on your scanner ,further test need to be done to have a more accurate diagnosis

You could get a lean code, could get black sooth from the tail pipe without a maf code.

It is wrong to do just as he said, you need to understand how this thing works and how it relates to other components like O2 sensors, ECT, IAT sensors etc to be able to diagnose what exactly is wrong with your car engine, yes if the maf is dirty it under reports the amount of air getting into the engine, while the O2 sensors report something higher than the MAF sensors then the computer acting based on the two different and incoherent reports so the engine performance suffers, Don't be lazy, try doing some research, you will be very glad you did, and I see some impatience in you, you will get nowhere if you continue like this, PO171 can be caused by many things not just the MAF sensor. Just type on the YouTube search bar THE SECRET OF ENGINE DIAGNOSIS: FUEL TRIM it will link you to Schrödinger's video about this lean code issue, just look at how I keep on saying fuel trim, fuel trim, it is very important you understand what it is and how it relates to P0171, don't be a parts changer bro, do some research, invest time on knowledge acquisition, it pays a lot, Mortal Kombat says there is no knowledge that is not power. I won't say it again.
