Pls, is it mandatory to always give my mother in law money anytime she visits? Often times she comes visiting, though some of the visits are for a day or 2 days just to say hi to us on her way to the market where she buys goods to her base in Edo to sell. Every time she comes, she brings garri and some stuffs for us, so, when she is leaving, I make sure I drop some money for her transport and in fairness to her, during some visits she only collect after a lot of pestering, as she would want to reject the money because according to her "it's not every time I should be giving her money and that she has enough for transport". This time around, she is coming and I am very "rich" now, as my building project has made my bank accounts red and we are just in the middle of the month which rules an expectation for salary. Right now, she is on her way to buy goods, but dropping by our house to greet her daughter and family, my conscience does not allow me to let her go "just like that' without giving her at least something for transport. Am considering the option of borrowing from someone or even from my wife to give to her, just to satisfy my conscience. N.B. Objective comments and constructive advice only.

You have no choice! its mandatory it's our culture
Your own is far better,its only your mother in-law
My own na super! na the whole family thou nobody ever asked me but i always feel ashamed to hold back
E.g if we are sick,we are going to spent more on visitor than hospital
if its naming ahh! serious matter,if naming cost 300k,visitors go cost like 400k
If its birthday hmmmmm! visitors will cost more than money meant for the birth-day party
it has come to a situation where we must not tell anyone if we are sick
Such is life
And the worse is you will have serious problem with your in-laws if you stop

Well that's the reason she keeps coming If you stop now you will now be vilified.
