We do not need to waste funds on that as we already know our population. All that is needed to be done is add 10% to census of 2006 and there u r! This has always been the custom since after the first census.

Good old census.
We can never have an accurate census in this land as long as we keep depending on federal allocation to run our various states. It means that having more population automatically translate to more money from Abuja.

But if states are meant to source their own revenue then the issue of manipulation of census figures would be over.
But for the time been... The Hausa will continue to inflate their figures with citizens from Niger Republic and their cattle, the Yoruba will inflate theirs with neighbouring Benin Republic, the Ijaw will inflate theirs with "mami water" undecided

but igbo,nothing for them

It's done every 15 years and not 10 year interval.

There is no general time interval the world over , the population commission of each country decides the interval they will carry out its census , some countries do theirs every 10 years while some do every 5 years but in Nigeria it is done every 15 years. Go and check well my brother.

this is a good question from OP. unfortunately census is not going to be held this year but next year. Enumeration Area Demarcation as been going on since last year where National Population Commission (NPOPC) staff as been trained in that aspect. EAD is a prelude to Census without it census can't take place. the delay is certainly as a result of last year presidential election which distracted the nation policy maker and national planning pundits.
