EastGold:yes accused people have right to complain. I noticed u have called him a criminal already, I believe u have judged him already. In the face of the law, everyone is innocent until the court rules that u are guilty and this depends on the quantum of evidence which the prosecution has against the acussed.until then the accused person remains innocent |

rusher14:Did U not read d part where he said he once met d judge at Le Meriden hotel in Akwa Ibom and he was baffled at the opinion of d judge concerning his person/activities? That reason alone is more than enuf to re-assign d case. |

dokiOloye:That's Metuh's statement. Perhaps they met and the Judge only greeted him "good evening" but Metuh expected "good evening sir". If they met, what they discussed can never be corroborated except it was recorded. In any case, the judge is following directives from the council and trial continues. |

wonder why an ex-classmate can't preside over your case.....this happened in US as accused recignises Judge as his former classmate www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3148082/Tearful-reunion-Burglary-suspect-emotional-breakdown-realizes-judge-presiding-case-middle-school-pal.html |

rusher14:That is not true, you can raise a recusal motion anything and it does not have to come from the prosecution only. He is not shopping for a judge as he is not the one that assigns them. He have a valid point that the judge or the council can consider in assigning a new judge. The cornerstone of justice is for it to be free from all form of bias and if one of the parties have a valid reason to think that, a judge will not bias, they will be listen to. |

| Re: Justice Abang And Olisa Metuh Were Classmates - Premium Times by rusher14: 5:32pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
linearity:I never said Metuh is shopping for a judge but that the judiciary would have to look to providing one who meets a set of criteria (after all that's what this issue is about) devoid of conflict. I never presumed the defendant has no right to seek a change of presiding judge but there's an air of desperation that can be interpreted from his defence considering the prosecution had called 8 witnesses and a no submission plea had been made by Metuh. It is quite late in the day to be requesting such a change. Metuh is running from justice, trying to buy time and avoiding the gaol. The gaols do beckon. |

agabusta:he (metu) can decide for his case to be transferred to another judge for any reason on earth...he can even claim his face makes him sick!!! so being his classmate is more than enough reason if he wants to be transferred |
| Re: Justice Abang And Olisa Metuh Were Classmates - Premium Times by chinchum(m): 5:48pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
Classmates in lawschool of 1 year? That was the only available lawschool for all law graduates as at then. I can bet there were over a 1000 law graduates, someone that knows up to 1/4 of his/her classmates must have campaigned heavily for a position. He should hush it and face his trial. |

BADNEAT:Chai. And u claim u know legal issues?? With your loose choice of words, it is evident u are highly ignorant of legal matters. An accused cannot 'decide' to have his case transferred. An accused can only request to have his case transferred, which is dependent on the court and other judicial authorities. It is not automatic. |
| Re: Justice Abang And Olisa Metuh Were Classmates - Premium Times by Nobody: 7:19pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
agabusta:Are we here to debate on legal words abi the fact that the judge was his classmate is enough reason for him to decide to make such a request?? |

THIS MAN CALLED METHU MUST BE A JOKER.BECAUSE ORDINARILY ONE SHOULD EXPECT HIM TO BE HAPPY BEING TRIED BY A JUDGE WHO WAS YL HIS FORMER CLASSMATE FOR YOU WILL EXPECT A FAIR HEARING FROM HIM BASED ON THE CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP EXPECTED YO EXIST BETWEEN YOU AND HIM. |
