Well the TD is supposed to be the link between the board AND the manager and purely (at least that's how I see it) as an advisory role.
Manager no get time going to the board everyday asking for players, negotiating and be playing politics at the same time - his focus should be getting results on the pitch. Moreover, managers get sacked like say nothing dey happen so here again, TD, GM or SD or whatever else they call them these days is there to offer some sort of stability/continuity for the club.

As for Emenalo, I can't believe he goes out and say, you know what, lets buy Oscar? Even you wouldn't suggest that.

Courtois is still World class......He will be back next season
