Governor Ortom Says Foreign Herdsmen Responsible For Attacks by ExAngel007(op): 11:34pm On Mar 30, 2016
In what might be considered an incredible revelation,
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue has said that Fulani
herdsmen are not responsible for attacks in the country.

Fulani herdsmen have been fingered in the incessant
attacks between herdsmen and farmers over cows being
allowed to graze on farmlands.

The recent attack in Agatu local government in Benue state
has resulted in the death of many farmers and Fulani
herdsmen have been accused of the attack.

PM News reports that the governor of Benue said the
attacks in the country were not carried out by Fulani
herdsmen but herdsmen from from Mali, Ghana, Congo
and Niger and that the foreign herdsmen have been
committing atrocities since 2011. He urged the federal
government to tighten security at borders.

Ortom said: “Unless they are chased out, it would be hard
to maintain peace in the country. “These herdsmen are
very destructive and well-armed. They kill women and
children on sight.

“They are completely different from the Fulani’s that we
have lived and cohabited with over the years.
“We understand that the herdsmen came from Mali,
Ghana, Congo, Niger among others and are killing us
every day with impunity. This must stop.

“As we speak, over eight Local Governments have been
affected across the state. The situation is really
overwhelming.”

He urged herdsmen to embrace ranches instead of grazing
reserves as lands were not available in the state for such.
He noted that 85 per cent of the citizens were farmers and
occupied the little available lands.

Meanwhile, a group, One Idoma Initiative called on
Governorl Ortom to visit Agatu and guarantee the safety of
lives and properties.

Your line of reasoning is the distorted one! Whether these herdsmen are Nigerians or not is no excuse of not definitely curbing their excesses!
This picture and link should help your reasoning problems!

Did you even read my response? You are here making empty declarations that " Nigerians must be secured from..."

How? Don't tell me Buhari that is back again in Yankee for Nuclear summit as the C-in-C and head of the national police force is going to do something. Or is it legislation from Saraki lol?

I know your problem. It's fear. The fear of real change, and what you may stand to lose if and when the zoo falls.

The Governor came up with the excuse that the herdsmen were foreigners! Is that enough reason?

Am a Nigerian passport holder and your concept of "change" is way beneath me as the change l intend bringing to my home state, Imo is to revolutionize agriculture where a young man in Mbano can run a dairy farm producing fresh milk daily, co-operatives of women in Orlu can comfortably organically grow strawberries and supply to Shoprite in Owerri and other upscale stores.......this is the change l am looking forward to because it is achievable! cheesy

Is that it? That brings change to your state abi? Well at least there is a governor there in your state that is also making excuses, excuses for joining APC, excuses for flying all over the place with Imo state funds to support coupist, excuses for not being able to pay salaries and on and on.

You come into the fray and bring about "change" which, as long as you hold the Nigerian (Ni.gga Area) passport, will automatically mean wonders, but suddenly your agric factories are shut down by the fed govt, state allocation withheld, fuel scarcity hits, armed robbery doubles because you of course don't control the NPF, and have no Imo or Easterners anywhere in the hierarchy, staff at FUTO is on strike, your Imo airport closed, all because of politics, and you will also issue to the press that Foreign Herdsmen are responsible.

You want change, then be serious

My thoughts does not revolve around APC/PDP nor Nigeria/Biafra, my thoughts revolves around what l have control over as l know l can never solve all the world's problems.

Who will come and close down my strawberry farm or dairy farm? Rather it will be a tourist attraction! Bros, l have travelled enough to know what type of change l desire! When l transfer knowledge to youths in the communities and they become productive and earn a comfortable income from their agro ventures. will it not help in reducing crime rate and most importantly the belief one must head out to Lagos or other cities outside igboland before they can get opportunities!
