In 2011,I was diagnosed with Appendicitis. I underwent surgery to remove the ruptured appendix. It's 5 years now and I still feel uncomfortable.

Before these time, I can stay up to 2 days without using the loo. I hardly experience any form of stomach pain or rumbling noise in my stomach. But after undergoing Appendicectomy, I can hardly eat or drink water without experiencing mild or severe stomach pain, stomach noise and using the loo up to 5 times a day.

I also find it difficult digesting some food like pounded yam as I end up with constipation. I usually throw-up after eating draw soup like ogbono, okro and ewedu. I also feel dizzy when I consume fatty food.

Are all these, the aftermath of undergoing Appendicectomy??..

Hi first confirm that the appendix was removed. It happened to a friend was told it was removed but it was not they just did a cut and sutured. It back.

Also confirm you don't have ulcer or a blockage in the intestines. I will suggest you use general hospital in Ikeja but I can tell you its stressful. Most private clinics I do not trust them. I can tell you from experience.

Don't play with health also get a second opinion.

Nice advice, but @bolded part not necessary as you can't posibbly have been to more than 10 different private hospitals not to talk of 'most'. I'm quite certain many others would have gone through the same experience (you had with the private hospitals) in the government hospitals also...

@OP you shouldn't have continued to suffer in silence with such symptoms. You could either have returned to the hospital to complain, or gone to another hospital. These you can still do, but its more preferable to visit a different hospital entirely, if possible request to see a General Surgeon who will carry out the necessary examinations & investigations.

I tend to agree with you on the fact that the appendix may have not been removed same thing happened to a room mate of mine, hospital told him they removed it only for another doctor to say it wasn't we should be careful with the hospital we visit

I removed mine last year,and I feel normal,although the operation site do itch me sometimes.

I am sorry to tell you this but a surgical instrument (or instruments ) was abandoned inside your body. The foreign properties are concurrently adversely affecting your normal physiological function.
For you to get healed you have to wait for me to abide with the instructions in the picture below:

OP, first I think you are lucky to be alive. A ruptured appendix is usually fatal. The symptoms you are experiencing should not be ignored, the underlying reason till date is mostly likely because the appendix ruptured before removal. Just consult for medical help, I am sure it is manageable.

Dear OP, Please go back to the hospital for a thorough check up instead of opening a thread , God will heal you completely.

I am sure U did not even need to be operated on but your doctor did it anyway to extort you

my dear go to d same hospital for check up or another hospital... so as to ensure ur stomach is OK...I did an appendix operation in 2010 and m perfectly OK...

sorry I feel for you, i will advice you visit a surgeon with a vast experience, health is wealth don't suffer in silence.

Take it from me 99 percent of apendisectomy surgeries in Nigeria didn't need to be carried but Dr's do it anyway to extort

The surgery for appendicitis is actually called appendectomy.

Try and visit a reputable hospital like LUTH so that you can meet a specialist preferably a pathologist.

Your condition looks solvable.

First who conducted the appendicectomy?
How qualified is the personnel.
Note:always have a follow up scan after any surgery.
to avoid stories that touch.
What u should do:
Go to a teaching hospital,(fed not state oh) .you will be seen by a doctor who will send you for an abdominal ultrasound scan outlining the vermiform appendix and surrounding viscera..
If all is well .....He will then most likely request you go for a barium swallow and all other gastro intestinal related tests to rule out the ulcers.
Seeking a solution to your problem is the first and most crucial part of finding a solution ....Cheers!

I will advice u to see a doctor at general hospital not private ones. I removed mine 3 years ago at a private hospital. 4 days later I started having heart burns for two days at the hospital and the worst part is that the doctor did not know what was wrong with me. I could not sleep for three days. imagine if not for Google and my cousin medical encyclopedia. mehn I just than God. that is why I don't trust doctors in private hospitals.
