The surgery for appendicitis is actually called appendoctomy.

Appendectomy.

I underwent appendectomy in May 2014 and since then I am normal, please visit another Hospital for proper examination.

Also note that health is wealth so do take care of yourself.

Most likely an overzealous appendixectomy with a non absorbing suture still upsetting the mesentery and colon. you just happen to fall into the very few with complications of a failed appendixectomy

I performed an haemorrhoid surgery, developed complication after a year or thereabouts, had to consult another surgeon in another hospital and eventually had the entire procedure done all over again. Go to see another doctor elsewhere. Delay is dangerous.

To me you can try to change your diet..introduce more of vegetables and drink alot of liquids (tee,natural juice) try this at least for a week or two and see if there are changes.

I want to believe there's another problem building up in ur stomach generally, pls, u need to go to diff hospital entirely to know wassup. I removed mine 2008 and have been perfectly ok, though d stitches do itch once in a while.

I had the same surgery, it took at least seven years for the seasonal stomach pains to go. Mine was also ruptured so it was not a normal appendectomy operation. You will be fine don't worry. But just don't do anything to overwork your stomach for now. However, seeing your doctor is also a good idea.

Hi first confirm that the appendix was removed. It happened to a friend was told it was removed but it was not they just did a cut and sutured. It back.

Also confirm you don't have ulcer or a blockage in the intestines. I will suggest you use general hospital in Ikeja but I can tell you its stressful. Most private clinics I do not trust them. I can tell you from experience.

Don't play with health also get a second opinion.

I will visit a general Hospital close to my house.
I underwent the surgery in a private hospital and yes it was removed as I was given.

Nice advice, but @bolded part not necessary as you can't posibbly have been to more than 10 different private hospitals not to talk of 'most'. I'm quite certain many others would have gone through the same experience (you had with the private hospitals) in the government hospitals also...

@OP you shouldn't have continued to suffer in silence with such symptoms. You could either have returned to the hospital to complain, or gone to another hospital. These you can still do, but its more preferable to visit a different hospital entirely, if possible request to see a General Surgeon who will carry out the necessary examinations & investigations.

OP, first I think you are lucky to be alive. A ruptured appendix is usually fatal. The symptoms you are experiencing should not be ignored, the underlying reason till date is mostly likely because the appendix ruptured before removal. Just consult for medical help, I am sure it is manageable.

I was misdiagnosed that I suffered from piles.

if you graduated at the bottom of the class, you might struggle to get a surgical trainee post. At least in the West. Surgical positions are very competitive. The problem with private practice in 9ja is that they become jack of all trade. Whereas in public hospitals you work in your area or areas of specialty.

Despite general surgical training as a house officer, not every doctor is qualified specialist surgeon. But this line is very dangerously blured in 9ja private practice.

OP, see a gastroenterologist. The surgeon for digestve system in a good general or teaching hospital.

Symptoms of small intestinal bacteria overgrowth (sibo) treatable with some special antibiotics. Mostly affects people who have undergone surgery. Search for (sibo) treatment on Google.

No, they aren't. The only thing I can relate to is the stomach pain you say you develop after drinking water (lukewarmish and cold waters were bad for me.... I had to always boil and allow to cool). I also couldn't eat solids without problems. But these and the other.... aftermath effects happened for just few months after the surgery and I was back to normal. And you say 5years??

My piece: If you can, go to the surgeon who operated on you or visit one of the reputable hospitals around. Don't dally, please.
