@Daninya1 I feel very bad about your experience and forgive those who post thrash in this very serious thread.I advice you try doing some research on google about people with similar experiences and get first hand advice about what to do to resolve the issues at hand.Secondly i like to recommend online counseling sessions with internet doctors and get very good counsel about what to do....

...Don't let it keep you in your closet, speak to right sources of information and get much needed help you need

God Bless you...

I tend to agree with you on the fact that the appendix may have not been removed same thing happened to a room mate of mine, hospital told him they removed it only for another doctor to say it wasn't we should be careful with the hospital we visit
This is scary.

So what was removed huh

Dear OP, Please go back to the hospital for a thorough check up instead of opening a thread , God will heal you completely.
The thread he opened hit the front page. That in itself should facilitate his complete recovery.

In 2011,I was diagnosed with Appendicitis. I underwent surgery to remove the ruptured appendix. It's 5 years now and I still feel uncomfortable.

Before these time, I can stay up to 2 days without using the loo. I hardly experience any form of stomach pain or rumbling noise in my stomach. But after undergoing Appendicectomy, I can hardly eat or drink water without experiencing mild or severe stomach pain, stomach noise and using the loo up to 5 times a day.

I also find it difficult digesting some food like pounded yam as I end up with constipation. I usually throw-up after eating draw soup like ogbono, okro and ewedu. I also feel dizzy when I consume fatty food.

Are all these, the aftermath of undergoing Appendicectomy??..
I also have had an appendix operation, and I cannot confirm any of these symptoms you mentioned. Perhaps you should consult your doctor for advice. If there's a possibility to do a CT scan of your lower abdomen, please do. You can also go for Colonoscopy, but its not a comfortable undertaking.

I am sorry to tell you this but a surgical instrument (or instruments grin) was abandoned inside your body. The foreign properties are concurrently adversely affecting your normal physiological function.
For you to get healed you have to wait for me to abide with the instructions in the picture below:

It seems to me that you have an incomplete intestinal obstruction caused by adhesions with spurious diarrhoea.

Before u start blaming the doctor, understand that a ruptured appendix is a serious medical condition that is invariably fatal unattended. Inevitably there will be infection of the entire lining of the abdomen doctors call peritonitis. Following an appendix rupture and surgery, the doctor will make a separate stab wound and leave a drain. Without this drain the diagnosis of a ruptured appendix is dubious.

Adhesions are like cobwebs which result from hardened secretions of infections arising from the rupture. It can also occur where there has been no rupture in situations where asceptic conditions are not met during and after surgery. With time these adhesions become very strong taking up loops of bowel and causing obstruction especially with certain food times initially. The reduced movement of fecal matter tend to increase bacterial load and liquefaction of feces leading to what is known as spurious (not true) diarrhoea.

In time an incomplete obstruction may become complete as these adhesions harden further requiring further surgical intervention.

Bros, you need to see a good doctor who understands these things well or your problem is just beginning. A complete laparotomy to correct this problem will cost u 3-4times what u paid for appendectomy.
And there is no guarantee that further adhesions will not form consequent upon this surgery.

Surgery is not always necessary when appendicitis is diagnosed. This is not 1980. There are useful drugs with excellent pharmacokinetics which when taken long enough can stop it, therefore it is not a reason to run away from your doctor until it ruptures.

The answer is No.

OP what I should say is that you are lucky to be alive because a ruptured Appendix is sometimes fatal..it depends on the degree of damage done by the content of the Appendix that usually spills into the peritoneum, the intestines and other visceral organs. From my own understanding, the surgeon that performed the operation may have cutoff a chunk of your intestine because of the spills and that may be the reason why you go to toilet frequently(dumping syndrome)...There could be other possible causes..Please visit a doctor(general surgeon to be precise).

OP, first I think you are lucky to be alive. A ruptured appendix is usually fatal. The symptoms you are experiencing should not be ignored, the underlying reason till date is mostly likely because the appendix ruptured before removal. Just consult for medical help, I am sure it is manageable.
Hmmm. shocked

Get and abdominopelvic scan done and go back to your doctor
Symptoms persist when we skip the natural order of things. We do tests after seeing doctors, not the other way round. You can't present to a doctor, for instance, with appendicitis and blame him if you don't get cured after surgery. I'm saying its possible appendicitis was ops diagnosis cool

How old are you? Any mucus in your stool? Feeling of in complete emptying after defecation, blood in stool... these are to rule out cancer of the large intestine.

The pain you feel, does it seem to move to your back/right shoulder? Is it worse when you lie down? Any change in your stool, urine, eye colour? Itchy? These are to rule out biliary tract problems.

By and large, the symptoms you complain of are not normal after appendicectomy.

You have to see a general surgeon as soon as you can.

Icemany:
First who conducted the appendicectomy?
How qualified is the personnel.
Note:always have a follow up scan after any surgery.
to avoid stories that touch.
What u should do:
Go to a teaching hospital,(fed not state oh) .you will be seen by a doctor who will send you for an abdominal ultrasound scan outlining the vermiform appendix and surrounding viscera..
If all is well .....He will then most likely request you go for a barium swallow and all other gastro intestinal related tests to rule out the ulcers.
Seeking a solution to your problem is the first and most crucial part of finding a solution ....Cheers!
Normal Vermiform appendix is difficult to visualise on sonography, patient's habitus(high BMI),bowel gas and retrocaecal position are factors that hinder visualisation. Normal appendix is well outlined only in about 49% using state-of-the-art sonographic equipment(which is not usually available in Nigeria). Besides his vermiform appendix is assumed to have been removed. Cheers.

the surgery is minor but those short minutes will surely make you think of rubbish. i underwent the surgery in 2014 and i never thought that i would go under the knife in my life. altho mine wasnt ruptured before i was operated on. it ruptured the very moment it was taken out.

so, OP, am sure you had the symptoms like abdominal pain, vomiting etc. why didnt you pay attention to it??

anyway, go for a check up tho and pray its not an aftermath of the operation.

*the most graphic part of the surgery i detest with so much vigor is te part where they have to force a rubber-like pipe to access your bladder. yep, its only one way its gonna go in. damn the pain was REAL!!!! *

get well soon OP.

I did mine in year 2000. I initially went to the general hospital but a doctor there took me instead to his private hospital. I think mine too had ruptured before they did it cos they showed me the cut after the surgery. I initially thought that I could negotiate to do the surgery after my exams but the consultant disagreed that I choose between life and my exams, hence he carefully preserved the cut part to show me what I was toying with. Aside from the early warnings not to yawn, stretch, carry heavy objects or even laugh, I have been good.

Try another hospital for a 2nd opinion, you were a Tad slow in seeking help, anything could've happened within 5years. God will touch your situation.

you must be a doctor.. but why is that when one lays down, the pain of the appendix disappears and when one stands, the pain comes??

also, i noticed the complete emtying of the bowel. thats normal. it will heal with time..

i think its also adviseable not to get an erection during recovery period. i must confess, it hurts like crap!
