O God, Please force the once glorious NLNG that has reduced to nothing more than a name and oil-money remuneration to be considerate enough to let us know what our faiths are, amen! No matter how much I try, not knowing if my wait would end up fruitful or futile keeps affecting my performance at my current project. Not that I am desperate to make it, no. I just want to put this behind me and give my best to whatever I would be permanently (at least for the near future) doing. Not knowing if I would be committing and making others commit both financially and psychologically to a project I would possibly have to leave midway is killing my spirit and my work...

That is why, I said jokingly that what if someone meets his/her Manager at the Meat and Twerk party?

If you check current recruitment trends in some organizations, to be a Manager, you need about 5 years experience.

Some guys already had minimum of 2 years experience before they submitted their resumes and I will not be surprised if some are already Managers where they are.

Some also have plum jobs, judging by my AC experience and just want to experience working for the world class company that pays the biggest tax in Sub-saharan Africa while enjoying that bus stop feeling that comes with knowing that there are very few career alternatives left that is if there is any better place. This is the only feeling that can cure some people's love for job hopping.

So if NLNG will be a demotion by the time it comes, it is one some will gladly accept.

At biggest tax is this verified information? quite a handful of companies pay more than NLNG at entry level.

Or go out there and engross oneself in life-bettering ventures or decisions? Don't mean to sound impudent but I chose the latter option towards the end of last year and I can't fully express how glorious things have been...so much that if the offer comes later than Sept, it might not make financial sense for me anymore. Let's not forget, this NLNG thing is not guaranteed for all, I can't stress that enough. Don't delay any decisions you need to take, unless you have none to take, then you're fine. Don't be afraid, even if you're headed in the wrong direction, it's in your best interest to get there early.

True @StringerBell. Best thing to do is to try as much as possible to be affected by the wait minimally. Unfortunately, when others would be affected (cos of some big decisions made, huge money spent on training and equipment, end results in sight, etc.) if you would have to leave, then it becomes more than just about you and gets even worse the longer the wait. The choice would then be to either sympathize and forfeit your ambition, or leave them and pursue your ambition while they do damage control. Honestly, none of the two options seems pleasant and that has been my troubles.

I can't believe anyone who says he/she is not affected. We all are but it depends on how you manage the effect on your life. No one wants a loss-loss situation. On the barest minimum, a win-loss, if not a win-win.

Bro, I totally get you. But then look at it in this light. What if you never applied to NLNG? What if you were immersed in this project and another too-good-to-be-true opportunity came along from elsewhere that required you to leave immediately? Wouldn't you leave the project anyway? I'm just trying to stress that NLNG's presence is immaterial. Action or inaction, shit will still happen. Once again I agree it's a hard decision. You got this far though so I won't assume you are afraid of hard decisions. But then the easier it is, the more it takes away from its merit of being a "decision" in the first place. Goodluck.

As for the issue of 'managers', all those traits you mentioned are not hard to come by. Considering that more than two-third of AC candidates passed, you should know that quality traits abound. You probably should change your circle of friends. Anybody can be a manager, you just need that opportunity.
