Two men, Abbas Attahiru and Mohammed Sufiyanu, who parade themselves as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, were today arrested for offences bordering on impersonation and obtaining by false pretence. Both men were arrested after an individual notified the commission of his encounter with both men.

The suspects had tried to extort some money from the complainant who they told had a petition against him at the commission. They promised to give the complaint a soft landing if he co-operated and gave them some money.

Suspecting a foul player, the complainant contacted the commission and he was asked to play along as the EFCC does not solicit for, nor accept payments/gratification from persons or organisations under any guise to settle matters.

The commission arrested both men at the home of the complainant where they had gone to collect N100, 000 bribe meant to kill a fictitious case. They will soon be charged to court.

Hmm, youth unemployment is really a hard nut to crack in Nigeria, everyone is trying to survive no matter the cost. The govt must as a matter of necessity do more than mere promises. I know how difficult it's for this present govt but it's now their responsibility to cater for Nigerians and this they must do. Everyone keeps talking of the positives of large population but no one cares to talk about the challenges inherent with large population. We are seriously outgrowing our resources and the govt must make policies or policy directions towards reducing our population and bringing it at par with our means of sustenance. I don't think our challenges would have be this monumental if our population was pegged around 80-100m citizens. A govt that fails to plan alongside a steady population has a big challenge to face in the nearest future. The western world are surviving today because they make policies to check their population, as I speak, Nigeria is above 180m and still increasing on a daily basis. Our leaders must think!
