Court Fines EFCC For Detaining Secondus by OKDnigeria: 11:12pm On Apr 08, 2016
Justice James Tsoho of a federal high court sitting in Abuja has declared as unlawful, the arrest and detention of former Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Uche Secondus.

‎The court also awarded N10 million damages against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Secondus had approached the court to enforce his fundamental human rights, which he claimed were violated by EFCC.

In the motion before the court, he asked Justice Tsho to declare his arrest and detention illegal‎.
He also asked the court to award damages against the commission.

In his ruling, the judge said, “The first prayer of the applicant is hereby granted and the sum ‎of N10million damages is hereby awarded against the respondent (EFCC)”.

A month ago, EFCC arrested Secondus f‎or illegally receiving buses on behalf of his party.
The anti-graft agency then asked him to return the buses.

U think they care? They have achieved what they wanted to achieve, which is to arrest the man & create the impression that they are fighting corruption& dat corruption resides in PDP.

They won't even pay the money, ( court order or no court order). Not while Baba is still the President.

That should serve as a lesson to EFCC.

Next time they will conduct proper investigation with evidence before arrests.

Good! Sick people that appoint themselves both judge n jury. What nonsense! They accuse, declare guilt over the pages of d papers then detain arbitrarily having prescribed their own punishment. Very irresponsible organisation this EFCC!

Rather than follow the procedures of lawfully investigating, arresting and prosecuting a person, they flout the laws and detain endlessly. The 10m is small sef.

This shows the judiciary can still check on the executive. The EFCC has been running amok after anything PDP. This should teach them a lesson that there is a limit to the exercise of their mandate.

PMB should stop using EFCC and DSS to bastardize our judicial system l. Enough is Enough. Nigeria Bar Associaltion should fire him a warning, If he still turns a stiffneck to it,
All legal personnel should go on strike. Let's know we run a lawless country.

Buhari is not anyway bigger than the laws of the land

If EfCc is serious, what happens to Rochas's aide they arrested a while ago for diverting bail out fund, or the Apc chieftain that sign an undertaking to refund #150m?

Why must those arrested be in Pdp, are they only the ones previously in govt?

We have a stingy president, he will never allow efcc to pay this damage, While he is off to China begging like almajiri, efcc is throwing away the one he kept.

pls go and read about judgment enforcement. All they need to do is to file garnishee application. by this the court will invite the bank efcc is operating with and will order the bank to pay or the bank will face the consequences
