Are aware d calabar-lagos rail line will pass via delta, abia, imo, ondo, ogun, developing tourism & commerce in those states, mass transits 4 millions @ cheaper & safer cost, dnt we hav ports in calabar,Ph already which can b improved in nxt 3yrs budget.ports is useless if nigeria dnt export goods.excessive imports shld b discourage that is economic slavery.2nd niger bridge my foot!bridge which pass only via onitsha-asaba only.i advice tht bridge project shld b spread in 7yrs development plan we dnt hav money unless d 5 eastern states want 2 do it with their money.
The Ibaka deep sea Port should come to fruition so that Lagos overpopulation issue will be resolved. This whole railway thing fit end like Amaechi monorail; who e eep huh

Are we going to have budget this year at all? When do they want to sign this into law? When will they start to implement it? And when will we see the result?
I just wonder. The window for most heavy engineering projects in the south is closing. In the next five or six weeks the tropical weather arrives and there goes your project. I have this feeling that the sense in all these moves is simple: the funds to execute is really not there so to cap the budget deficit, delay the workings. It was also an effective tool of corruption in times past as unutilised funds were never returned to treasury at the close of the year.

Mr. Aresa I see you are very loyal APC partyman. Please advice your party principals they are speedily going into political extinction if people's mood across the nation continues this way.

1. APC, especially the Presidency allowed Saraki and PDP take control of the NASS - a very costly mistake for the President to travel eve of this election.
2. APC and the Presidency have failed to expeditiously dislodge Saraki - poisonous mistake as the President is still traveling leaving many important things unattended.
3. APC and Presidency have failed to keep in touch with the source of their strength - the talakawas.
4. The Presidency has not demonstrated expected bite in decision-making, implementation, enforcement and monitoring.

No serious leader keeps rebels around long enough to cause avoidable damages.

The worst budget in the history of Nigeria.

Fraudulent budget.

To all those shouting NASS this and that, let us wait for their reply. As for me, we do not need a coastal rail to be financed by concession. That means that the Chinese would build, operate and transfer the project, just like Lekki concession projects. If you understand what that means.

Questions to ask are:

Why not develop any two of Calabar, Warri and Onne or any other seaport with this fund? That would decongest Lagos ports and be of better benefits to SS & SE, if you love the people so much. Unless we are saying that SS & SE would perpetually be dependent on Lagos for import and export.

Why rail, to serve what purpose? To move goods from Lagos to the SS and SE? Why not complete the second Niger bridge instead?

Why are you concessioning only the Calabar-Lagos rail of all rail lines in Nigeria? Meaning, the cost would be recouped from users who incidentally would be SS and SE.

We should reason things before castigating others. have we even heard from NASS??
I'm sorry but how does constructing rail stop all these projects you mentioned above? How does the Lagos-Calabar stop 2nd Niger bridge? Those are actually two different ministries. Then when you say cost would be recouped, please what do you mean? It's government owned and you'll pay for your ticket just like you'll pay if you get on a bus from Lagos to the east. Do you even understand the economic impact on the town the rail covers? Do you know how much it'll boost tourism in Calabar?

Hey...did u miss your way or something? You were being silly in making it seem like Igbos only had issues with the budget and that's where I called u out. I still maintain that if proper scrutiny n vetting was done before submission in the first instance, this back n forth wouldn't be happening now.

Time n priority are of essence. Putting the cart before the horse is what has landed us in this mess so that 4 months down the line, we don't have a standard budget ready for implementation.

Be happy though, at least u can say it's alright for d President to be on another junket and it will not be that hw wasn't ready to sign d budget.

THIS IS THE MOST ARTICULATE SUBMISSION ON THIS MATTER THUS FAR.

IF THE UNDERLYING PURPOSE OF THE PROPOSED LAGOS - CALABAR RAIL LINE IS TO FACILITATE THE MOVEMENT OF GOODS FROM THE LAGOS PORTS TO OTHER SOUTHERN STATES, IS IT NOT BETTER TO DEVELOP THE CALABAR PORT INSTEAD?
.
AFTER ALL OVER 80% OF GOODS ENTERING THE COUNTRY THROUGH THE LAGOS PORTS END UP IN THE SOUTH EAST.
You are only looking at the takeoff point and the final destination; whereas the rail will have many corridors that cut across mostly SE states. That's the essence of the project.

The most costly mistake and dumbest thing the APC have done so far is, to allow that sly-low-life-cretin outsmart them to the seat of the senate president.
We are all bearing the consequences now: no budget, no progress!

I the NASS needs to be shown its limit. These guys think they're the most powerful, they think they can mive things around to favour their corrupt driven constituency projects. I think Nigerians can now ser better. Every effort this government is making to salvage the situation is being sabotaged by men of evil. We must stand and fight our common enemies, they are evil and Nigeria must work. No doubt they sent a budget with the details to the president. Its a shame

Well said.

This is a project that should have been done and completed like 20 years ago, if we had a working country.

How can the hardship be ameliorated without 2016 budget and the king is not even bothered. Hmm. I guess few individuals at the presidency is benefiting from this Non budget administration.
What's worth doing is worth doing well. If he didn't care he'll have just signed the highlights. If he had just signed the highlights, tell me how you'll feel if you heard they kept a project meant to favor the north but removed the one beneficial to the SS? Sometimes we need to rid ourselves off the hatred for the man to be able to see those that don't want meaningful progress for this country. What's the point of reducing funds for major projects only to divert to new ones that no studies have been done? This means the old projects won't be completed, the new ones won't be completed, what's the point? They removed money for drugs to buy ambulances, how does that make sense?

It is very shameful that there are senators and house of rep. members there representing the people of the south, yet before their very eyes the N60 billion that was earmarked for railway from lagos to calabar was removed while that of Lagos to Kano scale thru.

I don't blame the members of house of assembly from the south since most of them are PDP. When it comes to rigging elections, collecting bribe they are very smart but when it comes to engaging their nothern counterpart in serious national issues they are very timid. Everyday you see senators like Ekweremadu, Urogide(edo state) and other PDP senators following saraki to the CCT. One would have expected them to use the closeness to the senate president to lobby so that they can attract federal presence to the south, but the reverse is always the case. Shame on Ekweremadu, shame on PDP, shame on southern senators and house of rep members.
You made a good mark but blaming the PDP shows that u got alot of work to do with you brain. If we leave you further you soon blame PDP for Buhari waka waka. Pls, it Nigeria first before ur tribe, sentiments, party or religion.

Who are they deceiving? To tell me dat PMB will decline signing d budget cos of dividend of democracy due to a SS area of Calabar is a white lie aimed at setting up d natnl assembly against d masses, make Bubu appear as pan-Nigerian and as usual shift dia usual blame game to d doors of d legislators since Gej blame transfer strategy is not working any longer. This same budget FEC review dat he refused to attend is now this important. For God's sake d lifeline people have been hoping dat cud jumpstart the restoration of d economy is d signing into law of this budget but that appears to v ran into troubled murky waters of politics. These guys are really insensitive, kakistocratic and directionless. What happened to sending supplementary budget for any gray areas while implementing d ones dat are well appropriated. Obj u see ur advice dat he can run without budget till June?. If d budget is being suspended cos of this then d Bubu travel to China shd be put on hold till it is sorted out but alas d junketeer will be off this morning. If d natnl assembly shd be alive and active they must not approve everything sent to her lest they become rubber stamp. No sane Nigerian will support any action dat will push d country into foreign debt again . It is most painful dat most of us are extremely resilient, fanatically docile and annoyingly cowardly. In saner climes, 'Occupy Nigeria ' shd v been a daily routine now but we r all here bashing ourselves. Shame

This is not a PDP or APC matter but ignoble people who reasonable Nigerians must rise up to deal with. David Cameron just published his wages and taxes over the years and it just look like they are pocket money to our legislators. All we do is sit online, complain and rant about APC and PDP. There must be a reason for that, after all that is a new route

The two major rail lines we have are not even working yet and they want to creat a new one, does that make sense to you?

NASS advice to the dullard must have been for him to get the two major rail lines (Lagos-Kano & PH-Maiduguri) working first before thinking of a new one. Everything must not be for political gains! Am sure this was the reason why Osinbajo said GEJ did not construct new road. Why will you construct a new road when the ones you have are not working yet?

Which major railway is not functional?
The one Jonathan said he did or am I missing something?
So it's impossible to make the existing railway functional, while building a standard gauge?
Would you rather have them spend the #60billion to construct a new road in Kwara State than start the construction of a new railway from Lagos to Calabar, just because the existing ones are not "functional"?
Even if Buhari is your enemy, you can still use him to achieve great things or do you think not being able to construct the new raiway will hurt him in any way?

Nigeria is counter-funding. Chinese re the major players here. While you try to hate and play politics. Lagos-Kano owned a twin budget was left intact. That one passes through Saraki's village. While we play politics with ours. Is lame to bring in Ibaka seaport on this issue.
