If you and me Wish good for Nigeria we most pay our Tax as we've seen that oil doesnt bring much
Many Country without oil live on Tax e.g Germany . this country live on Tax , they have the hingehst Tax System in the World.
In Germany you pay Tax on Dog , Tobacco, clothes , Land Car , Inheritance, Job, inshort they have over 100 ways of Taxes.
So if we expect much from the Land, we must make a sacrifise.

The VP never said the govt plans to increase the % of VAT.He(osibanjo) only acknowledged that 5% currently being paid in Nigeria is small compare to other part of the world.He said that the govt plans to extend the payment of vat to other things which the law approved but not currently being collected.

Nigeria has if not the lowest VAT in the world and even Fayose himself knows it isn't sustainable with the current economic wahala. but there is always something for his 'wailer' friends.

He only observed that we pay less than some other countries and that the same 5% could be extended to other untaxed sections. Nobody has suggested an increase in the rate.

VAT is not something that can change on a simple press briefing. You know that.

Are their standards improving?

Do workers earn more, have more value for their money or even get paid as regularly as they were before your swearing in?

Perhaps if most of these stats are positive one might begin to ask your opinion on how you've achieved this.

You increased the taxes on tipper drivers thereby increasing the amount load of sand in the state, you didn't stop there you went ahead to increase the tax payed by the butchers in the state, thus taking meat out of the reach of common man.
You've also increased the amount payed for car insurance in ekiti state, thereby making it hard for people to renew their vehicle papers, insurance alone now costs #5000 in ekiti, whereas to renew for cars before now, the total cost was roughly #5000, so Mr Fayose, charity begins at home

How do you increase taxes when incomes are decreasing, tax increment should have been done during the oil boom time, when oil was selling for over $100 dollars a barrel.

Instead of increasing taxes, those dullards should have increased the taxable persons in the country starting with the senators and ambassadors who enjoy undeserved tax exemptions.

Funds transfer by IOCs and other foreign companies operating here ought to be taxed.

Its unfair to ask poor people to make up for shortfalls in taxes that govt wont collect from exempted people.

If other leaders can rise up to condemn the insensitivity of this government on the plight of her citizens, our economy will be improved as the people hold them accountable for their actions, policies and decisions. The level of hardship in this country has risen to a point that we all have to put our leaders on check because its affecting everyone notwithstanding our political and tribal differences.
