Ritchiee:But you could argue that the best Nigerian fighters have come from the Southeast like Ike Ibeabuchi, Sam Peter, Herbie Hide and Dick Tiger. |

aim5:WE ARE TALKING ABOUT CHAMPIONS AND YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THIS... Ikemefula Charles "Ike" Ibeabuchi (born February 2, 1973) is a Nigerian former professional boxer who fought at heavyweight. He defeated highly ranked contender David Tua and future world champion Chris Byrd. After compiling a record of 20–0 with 15 knockouts, Ibeabuchi was imprisoned in Las Vegas in July 1999, after submitting an Alford plea. In November 2015, Ibeabuchi was released from the custody of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after completing his 16-year Nevada state prison sentence without incident. He has since announced that he will be returning to the ring at the age of 42 to resume his professional career. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ike_Ibeabuchi OKON WAS BETTER... Samuel Okon Peter (born September 6, 1980) is a Nigerian professional boxer and former WBC heavyweight champion. He rose to prominence in his early professional career following a string of spectacular knockout wins, at a time when the titles of the division were fragmented. In 2008 he won a portion of the heavyweight crown by knocking out Oleg Maskaev, and scoring notable wins over James Toney and Oleg Maskaev before that. Later in 2008, in what would be his only defense of the title, Peter lost to Vitali Klitschko, who stopped him in eight rounds. Peter remains the only boxer to have been defeated by both Klitschko brothers, losing to Wladimir twice (in 2005 and 2010) and Vitali once. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Peter |

Ritchiee:Ike Ibeabuchi was on his way to greatness and he was undefeated, but he was unstable mentally. Sam Peter was a solid heavyweight contender with murderous punching power and he challenged for the heavyweight title a couple times. Herbie Hide was a Cruiserweight with deadly power as well. |

aim5:WE HAD PEOPLE LIKE Gbenga Oloukun Henry Akinwande James Oyebola Nojim Maiyegun GREAT FIGHTERS... |
| Re: Jose Mourinho Pictured With Anthony Joshua, Heavyweight Champion by Chinom(m): 7:12pm On Apr 11, 2016 |
Ritchiee:Henry Akinwande, great fighter?!!. you're joking right. I only reckon with Najim Maiyegun. The rest are plain wussies. Ike Ibeabuchi would have been our very own Mike Tyson. Search him on Youtube. But, like a typical Igbo man with excess testosterone, he overreacted and over-indulged in a lot of activities outside the boxing ring. In terms of boxing skills, he is not on the same league with all these nobodies you are dropping here. |

Ritchiee:And I'm not doubting that. Just saying that there were and are other regions with good fighters. Yoruba has the quantity, that's all. |
| Re: Jose Mourinho Pictured With Anthony Joshua, Heavyweight Champion by Nobody: 7:19pm On Apr 11, 2016 |
Chinom:Exactly. Ike Ibeabuchi was a freak of nature. Southeasterners aren't as deep into boxing as much as the Yorubas, but when they are, they've produced quality fighers. |
| Re: Jose Mourinho Pictured With Anthony Joshua, Heavyweight Champion by Ritchiee: 9:48pm On Apr 11, 2016 |
Chinom:No,Ibeabuchi was just a punching bag.We are talking about champions here. ## James Oyebola (10 June 1961 – 27 July 2007) was a heavyweight boxer who won a bronze medal at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in the super heavyweight division. Oyebola was the British heavyweight champion from 1994 to 1996. [1] Oyebola was born in Lagos , Nigeria . Standing 6 ft 9 in (2.05 m) tall, with a reach of 85 inches (2.16 m), he fought in the orthodox stance and won 18 of his 23 fights, 16 by knock out, losing four and drawing one. He was pronounced brain dead after injuries sustained by gunshot wounds to his head after a nightclub altercation. He was based in Paddington during his career. Amateur career Oyebola was the ABA Super Heavyweight Champion in 1986 and 1987. [2] Pro career Oyebola won the WBC International Heavyweight title in 1993 and the vacant British Heavyweight title on 19 November 1994 at the National Ice Rink, Cardiff , Wales when he knocked out Clifton Mitchell in 4 rounds. [3] His last fight, in 1996, was a defeat to Julius Francis . He was nicknamed "Big Bad" during his career. |

Chinom:I AM SORRY BUT YORUBAS HAVE THE QUANTITY AND THE QUALITY.THERE HAD BEEN VERY FEW PEOPLE WHO WOULD BEAT A YORUBA BOY IN BOXING. IKE IBEABUCHI AND HERBIE WERE JUST PUNCHING BAGS FOR THE YORUBA BOYS. ## Henry Akinwande (born 12 October 1965) is a retired English professional heavyweight boxer and former WBO heavyweight champion. Background Akinwande was born in London, England but went to live in his parents homeland of Nigeria as a 4-year-old and came back to England as a 21-year-old (1986). Amateur career As an amateur boxing out of the Lynn amateur boxing club in Camberwell, SE London, he was ABA heavyweight champion in both 1988 and 1989, beating another fellow Nigerian and future WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide and represented Great Britain in the heavyweight division at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. |

Ritchiee:Yes Yoruba guys have had quality and quantity, but no top Yoruba heavyweight would touch Ibeabuchi or even Sam Peter for that matter. Lateef Kayode started off strong then he started declining after facing top opposition. Ola Afolabi is a decent contender at Cruiserweight, but he'll never get over the hump. Ajose at 140 lbs. declined after getting destroyed by both Matthysse and Hank Lundy.. |

Akinwande made his professional debut in 1989 against Carlton Headley in London and won all of his first 18 bouts, including a second round KO victory over former World Light Heavyweight Champion J.B. Williamson , and relatively well known fringe fighters such as Marshall Tillman, Eddie Taylor, Kimmuel Odum and John Fury . Akinwande then challenged Axel Schulz for the vacant European heavyweight title in Berlin , Germany in 1992. The fight, scored only by the referee was adjudged to be a draw after 12 rounds. This was felt by many to be a "home town" decision, as most observers had Akinwande winning comfortably. Following a victory over New Zealand's respectable James Thunder for the Commonwealth title in 1993, Akinwande again challenged Schulz for the vacant European belt. This time three judges were employed and Akinwande was awarded a unanimous decision after 12 rounds. He was to defend the title twice, against Biagio Chianese and Mario Scheisser . Akinwande also defeated fellow Briton and future WBO cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson, former IBF heavyweight title holder Tony Tucker, Frankie Swindell , Brian Sargent, Calvin Jones and Gerard Jones, all from the USA, during this period. |

Perry had never touched the canvas in 13 years as a professional pugilistboxer. [5] On June 10, 2011, Kayode proved too much for a game Matt Godfrey, then 19-3 with 14 KOs, at the Chumash Resort Casino. Kayode controlled the entire fight and sent Godfrey to the canvas a total of three times, eventually winning by scores of 98-90, 97-90, 98-89. Ritchiee:Yeah I've watched boxing since I was 4 years old. I also had like 25 amateur fights, but my mom told me to quit because she thought boxing was "dangerous". I might have another stint at going amateur. |

Benjom:God forbid evil... Yes, Mou is likely to bring success in the first two seasons and we all know what's next....we can't afford to pay huge compensation for a short term solution. My Opinion: Allow Van Gaal run down his contract and give Giggsy a shot. Then, appoint a Director of Football (Ed Woodward is poor at handling transfer issues and player contract......Let him stick to his primary duty[Negotiating commercial deals...he's brilliant at that]). #chikenaaa!! |
