Nigeria’s inflation rate which climbed to the highest level in almost four years in March is the highest among oil producing peers, a signal that the Federal Government’s naira peg is pushing up food and fuel prices and adding pressure on consumer incomes, as a majority of businesses now seek funding from the parallel market.http://businessdayonline.com/2016/04/nigeria-inflation-highest-among-oil-peers-as-fx-policy-backfires/ |

with the soaring inflation rate, our govt is still insensitive to the plight of the ordinary Nigerian. We are being taxed heavily, no fuel supply in the country, electricity tarrifs have been increased and the worse is, power generation has dropped significantly. While driving to work this morning, i noticed that there were fewer cars plying the roads. Most cars spend days at Petrol Stations just to get fuel. Some car owners have parked their cars at home because of the fuel scarcity and the rising inflation. The budget is yet to be signed and implemented and some workers are still owed salaries for months. Even the NYSC members are owed their allowances. What is the Labour Union doing? The government needs to be told that they cant continue to be insensitive to the needs of its citizens. |

Inflation is unavoidable in these economic circumstances. The government's desperate attempts to stop the unstoppable using highly illogical price controls on forex and petrol are just making things worse by decimating our productivity, which is far more dangerous than inflation. |

joseph1832:- Abolish the official exchange rate to end forex scarcity overnight. Let people buy and sell foreign currencies at the true market price. - Abolish price controls on all petroleum products to end the issue of fuel scarcity permanently and encourage economical use of fuel. - Use the savings from the abolishment of these wasteful price subsidies to promote exportation of the things we can produce economically. - Use some of those savings to provide shock absorbers to vulnerable people who will be adversely impacted as the economy adjusts. How do you promote exportation? Provide free information to people. Remove all bureaucratic obstacles that would discourage people from exportation. Cocoa is still the largest export in Nigeria after oil. Every vacant land in the South West should be a mini cocoa farm. Also, allowing devaluation encourages exportation because it makes it dramatically more profitable. |

Seun:God bless you boss. simple law of demand & supply explains the reason behind current inflation. not until FG & CBN do the needful, inflation is inevitable |

Seun:You know all this is only feasible in a country where the law is held in high regard? Many people are raking in millions cause of the current state of things in the country, do you honestly believe these set of people will stand back idle and watch their bread being taken from their mouths. I once heard a filling station attendant said he's willing to go jail for 1 year just because he rakes in 5k per day due to the lingering fuel scarcity. What do you think one who rakes in 5mil per day will be willing to do?. The problem I see with all these is not adequate policy formulation, is the will to implement it and make sure its followed tooth and nail. |

Seun:So what happens to an average salary earner. 100k monthly salary after removal of restriction on forex will now worth 35k |
