Current fuel scarcity is as a result of sabotage. FG needs to seek out the saboteurs and remove them. No amount of fuel imports would ease the scarcity unless you tackle the sabotage. The power companies seem to be involved in this sabotage as it appears that fuel scarcity coincided with with drastic drop in power, meaning that they are synchronising with the sabotage of the marketers by shutting down electricity supply to increase pressure on fuel supply therefore causing scarcity. The Senators failure to summon power companies or marketers seem to indicate that there is collusion of corrupt senators who probably own filling stations. The black marketers, these people collude with marketers to cause scarcity. Marketers hoard fuel and secretly sale to black market. The same black marketers further fill up the queues in filling stations to block motorists and individuals from getting fuel easily. So what are the solutions? I propose: 1) Arrest of any fuel marketer and distribution of any fuel they possess, they could be questioned about which marketers are supplying them. 2) Warning to board of any fuel marketer found to be ,or suspected of diverting fuel; if repeated, the entire board of the firm to be arrested and questioned with view of prosecution for economic sabotage. 3) The power companies to be held responsible for ensuring the security of their infrastructure is safe from sabotage, if it occurs then they have to ensure they have contingency to maintaining adequate electricity generation. Failure to maintain adequate levels of electricity supply should attract a hefty daily fine for every day the generation falls below a specified level. 4) NAss to be ordered to rush through legislation to punish any marketer hoarding or diverting fuel by imprisonment and the loss of their licence to market fuel and to give FG the power to take over their assets to ensure that fuel is supplied. 5) If NAss committees are failing to summons the power companies and fuel marketers then they are failing in their role and the public should be encouraged to recall and sack the legislators in the these committees. |

Ok, so maybe the power companies may not be responsible for safeguarding gas pipelines supplying their power plants, but what are their excuse for turbines coincidentally failing just at the same exact time as corrupt fuel marketers are creating artificial scarcity - that is too fishy. Vandals of pipelines are also doing it for economic sabotage and to create fuel scarcity. MIKOLOWISKA: |

Chai!! How power supply take concern fuel scarcity? Some power station burn fuel or gas to give light. How come power hoard fuel? I dare to disagree with the analysis; But better yet, before the fuel scarcity, ever since the stand of insufficient power station supply could always be link to demand for fuel, possibly sponsor by the fuel sellers.Possible. But for the present state of the economy and fuel availability, power station no get business in the issue at all. |

You must not live in Nigeria. When there is no power the demand for fuel increases and causes or contributes to the scarcity. TimJackJsm: |

worksmart:True, that is found in my second paragraph. But larger number of power stations use combustion not hydro. They require fuel too,to power the engines aside burning gases. Where the fuel? |
