And so it begins.........tongue
Another civil war looming.
I'm not trying to be a prophet of doom but if this bill is passed into law,the ripple effect will be too catastrophic!

I begin to wonder why a serious business man can't keep his cattle in a ranch and provide grasses for them, isn't this even cheaper?

Secondly, I wonder why government should also provide land in all states of the country free of charge for a business man to feed his cattle.

Is cattle rearing not a business? Are they not supposed to have operating costs? Shouldn't I for instance be able to supply them with grasses, if they can't get it for themselves?

Does the cattle belong to govt? Do these people even pay tax? Will govt also provide free land for me in all states if I decide to rear whatever or trade in whatever? Will I have free land in the North if I decide to plant millets in large scale?

Why can't we simply make laws stipulating the right methods of of raising animals, which is ranching in this case. Why do we keep complicating our lives when there are simple solutions.

And we have lawmakers doing siddon dey look. Smh. Can someone pls share the sahara link with their phone numbers, we need to begin to talk to these people. At least, let's know the reason why they think this crude way is better.

OP I have attached a copy of the bill you're talking about. Isn't it a 2011 bill or was it resurrected?

Since Sahara reporters have helped us with the contacts of our respective senators and representatives, I think its high time we bombarded them with SMS showing our disapproval of this bill. We can't let it stand. It's unfair.

they will use soldiers to sieze and guard the lands.
Its better we all fight against this bill before it's passed into law.

So there is still something like southern Nigeria, I thought the southern Nigeria ended during Goodluck Jonathan era, an era where the south west collaborated with the north to force jonathan out of office for the post of vice president and finance minister.

Now I am hearing about southern Nigeria, please who revived it and when was it revived. The same southern Nigeria where an oba vowed to drown his supposed fellow southerners for voting a particular party.

Other southerners should be wise

I feel you, but this is an existential threat to the south and if we don't unite against it irreparable damage may be done. Let's fight our common enemy first and put our house in order later. The Fulani have a very sinister agenda from what I can see.

Lol... Southerners and their way of handling things in this country has given the North wings to fly. I don't blame the North because they are highly bonded in UNITY. Can same be said of the South?

I think you are the liar in this case.

The bill as written is very evil.
The land use act vests management of the lands within the state on the government of the state, this evil bill only says the governor of the state will be notified of the decision to take over the land for the purpose of establishing grazing reserve and routes. They are not asking for the governor's permission so whether the governor likes it or not, they can take the land and gazette it as grazing reserve.

The clause that you can not take the grazing reserve commission to any court without first getting permission from the government is intended to make it impossible to get any redress in court on dispute about the land. So if this bill passes, the fg takes your land and if you don't like the terms, you will need the permission of the fg to sue the fg to get back your land. How will anyone get approval from the fg to sue the fg?

Globally, people build ranches from their personal funds and house their animals in the ranches, they raise and sell their animals as a business with expenses and incomes, and make good profit from doing this, why should Nigeria case be different

So in summary they want to pass a bill that allows the fg to take any land it wants and make it impossible to challenge such takeover in any court. This is evil

I just hope their is no bill like this being actually discussed.

Igbo land is the first place it will happen. This is because the governors and political leaders in Igbo land are puppets.

abiooo the bill say grazing reserves,it didn't say Fulani grazing reserves. Fulani can go to their own states and and graze their cows while the Igbo herdsmen would also do same in their states. Why didn't I think of that grin grin grin grin

Just called the number listed as belonging to senator Mao and respectfully dropped my opinion. Bugging their lives with calls and tests will make them think twice at least.
