Must it always be Lagos, what is your actual state of origin? This is even in a rural area of Umunze and Igbariam. You can see how development is spreading all over Anambra and not just the major cities of the state. At least 95% of Nigerian states do not have portable water in their rural areas unlike Anambra!

Great one Akpokuedike. Umunze my home town is really growing. The concept of 'Aku rue uno' is giving it a big image. Factories, Hotels, Mega filling stations, private schools, private hospitals, a lot of privately owned boreholes, a growing market with the presence of the notable big banks (zenith bank inclusive), college of education with enviable structures, a good transportation hotspot are in place to make anyone feel at home in Umunze. I really miss. Obiano Ndeme o!

Honestly I'm sure by now Anambra has the best standard of living. Use to be Enugu until the new governor messed everything up.

My only prayer is that he doesn't soft pedal on his second tenure as most governors in the country do. They shine somewhat bright in their first term but on return are nothing but a huge mess since they won't be needing votes no more.

At least Obiano is doing something tangible. If you ask the gworo chewing dullard of Daura what he has initiated and commissioned after almost a year in office........

This project wasn't initiated in the last year. We funded this project in 2014 under the 2013 CGS to State. What that means is the proposal for this project was submitted in 2013 but we gave them funds in 2014. The project is counterpart funded which means that we give the state 50% and the state provides 50%. I must say that I'm impressed with the scale of the project and I hope they can sustain it.

This is not Umunze but Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University...... I was there during the commissioning on Tuesday 11/04/16. But that was before the students wrote their GSS exam. I am a staff there.

This is rural water scheme, how many was commission by your governor in your village?

Few years back Urban water scheme was commissioned in Onitsha, greater Onitsha water scheme

Governor Willie Obiano has commissioned the rehabilitated greater Onitsha Water scheme. The facility, which was reactivated at the cost of over one-point-eight billion naira collapsed over fifteen years ago.
He said his administration spent one-point-two billion naira to complete the project inherited from his predecessor and also cleared one-point-nine billion naira salary arrears owned the staff of the State Water Corporation.

He noted that the scheme has the necessary components to produce portable water and needs of residents of Onitsha and environs while adequate measures had been taken for proper maintenance and for the staff who would manage the facility.

He restated that work was in full swing on all projects inherited from his predecessor.

The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Water Resources and Community Development, Chief Chinedu Emeka recalled that attempts to resuscitate the scheme by previous state administrations, including intervention by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, failed.

Chief Emeka explained that the scheme has the capacity to produce ninety million litres of water daily to cover a greater percentage of Onitsha residents, while efforts were on for necessary expansion.

He urged the people to report promptly cases of pipe leakages and avoid wastage of water as well as ensure prompt payment of water bills. The APGA Senatorial Candidate for Anambra North in the coming elections, Chief Duben Obaze said the Governor was giving the state purposeful leadership and fulfilling promises made to the people.

Earlier, the Chairman, Onitsha North Local Government, Mr. Douglas Egbuna, thanked the Governor for the giant strides in restoring public water supply to the city since 1999.

The consultant to the project, Chief Anthony Anukwu assured that the reticulation would cover Onitsha, Nkpor, Okpoko, Bridge Head, three-three and environs.
