Wait sef make baba free all this corrupt people come have door to door meeting with them and ask them to borrow us money at low interest rate and they have to give us in cash....i mean tinubu, gej, dangote, danjuma I mean all this wealthy people let them borrow us 100 billion dollars then make baba use this money turnover Nigeria then once we're back on our feet we'll pay them back.. If this is hard to make then let them increase tax on wealthy people. Joel3: |

If you want to know why we have a failed system and corrupt officials who can get away with just about anything -- just take a look at all the naive and fxcking dumb comments we have here. Kemi, so far is on course to be one of the best finance ministers we will ever have, it is too early, but she is yet to take any wrong step, all her footings 'so far' are solid and in the right direction -- a reflection of the kind of leadership her boss inspires. I'm wondering what the low-lives attacking her would have done in her shoes. |

If our youths could just do some research an back their arguments with constructive statements, things here will be a whole lot better. America is the largest debtor in the world. They live and thrive on debt, Their saving grace is that they are they have the world's most dominant currency (Dollar). We cannot tow that line. So we need to look at sound economies with which we share similar characteristics and see how they are borrowing. Let's take a look at Britain. Total national debt is just above. £1.5 trillion, a third of which was borrowed from bank of england through quantitative easing program. Interest rates 4%. Compare this with America. National debt is $18.9 trillion. 47% of which is owned by foreign investors. With our penchant for corruption in this country. A cash loan has and will always be useless, because your politicians will waste it on constituency projects. (borehole, overseas trips, town hall et al) Things that won't add any value to your GDP. Then another govt starts paying loan. Our saving grace was that crude oil was priced way above it's true value, due to OPEC and Co placing restrictions on production to drive up market price. We were able to pay back the loans and also suffer devaluation due to the ridiculous conditionalities that came with the loan. Now a govt is saying, enough is enough, no more cash loans. Let's reduce dollar demand starting with our largest import partner. Let's agree on a fixed exchange rate so there will be no fluctuations for the next 3-5 years. And let them assist us with their technology.( Truth is no country will transfer technology to another). The questions we should be asking ourselves as youth is. How can I benefit from this govt deal. |

Joel3:The point is since Nigerians cannot do without import. In fact no nation can. And the the fact that most of our imports is from China which makes most dollar export going to them, you should know that Nigeria needs to look at how to cub the high dollar exchange which makes looking at how to deal with forex between Nigeria and China a priority. Long live PMB. To say China doesn't buy anything from Nigeria is laughable. If you are still learning, know that China import crude from Nigeria. At least that one you cannot dispute. You that knw import and could not even understand that no nation can live in isolation. Even the USA imports from China and vice versa. America highest debt is to China. How did that happen. Find that out since you know economics very much. |

angelusbrut:So, basically, she can't do the job cos she said "NO" to the destructive IMF loans, no? Your logic is upside down cos it takes someone brave and patriotic to reject IMF loans and not too many have the balls to do that. I guess you don't have the brain capacity to decipher anything. However, you would yourself a lot of good by picking up a few books and reading the effects of Bretton Woods loans on 3rd world countries and how Nigeria nosedived into perpetual abyss due to SAP. A lot of you just post for the sake of it. |

One of the intelligent youths who has taken time to understand the issues. Its a currency swap. # 9jachinacurrencyswap Better for 9ja than an IMF loan. It is the difference between 2 adult relationship and an #IMFmastervslaveloan relationship. PMB correct president. We are diversifying to limit our exposure to fluctuations in an unstable currency that is backed by massive debt. ï opendo89: |

A house divided against itself cannot stand (Abraham Lincoln..US President 1861-1865) As seen in the comments, this is a house divided against itself. The biggest setback to progress and development in this country is its citizens....way too many have closed minds or are blind followers. This forum gives us the opportunity to share our views.... but at the same time have a broader view or see it from a different perspective after reading the comments. We can learn a lot right here...but only if we open the window of our minds and allow fresh thoughts to enter and circulate. So many have entered this thread with closed minds...and would leave with their minds still shut...learning nothing. Do we have to agree with Kemi?...No... but at least say why and not just be an echo repeating what others are saying. To those who disagree with Kemi... if you can..let's reason. Does your bank approach you saying you are financially sick and offer you a loan? If they do.... would you accept the loan?...or would you become suspicious...419 alarm bells be ringing in your head? If you accept you are a fool... the type that leaps first and look after. No Third World country has become better after taking an IMF/World Bank loan...especially Black countries ....they are always worse. Kemi knows that.... snake oil salesman come knocking.. she says no..and you guys are upset. Abeg.... free yourself from whatever spell you are under.... political... religious... tribal... and let's focus on the messages and not the messengers...or we would continue to suffer as a nation for generations to come.. |
