National grazing bill has expired, says senate by martin123: 7:35pm On Apr 19, 2016
The senate has refuted claims that there is a national grazing bill pending before it, saying the document presented to the preceding upper chamber had expired since June 2015.

Babajide Omoworare, chairman, senate committee on rules and business, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said such bill had not been presented to the 8th Senate, but recalled that a bill relating to the issue was presented to the 7th senate.

“Several distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have been inundated with the request by members of the public concerning a national grazing bill in the senate,” the statement read.

“This is to clarify that no such bill has been presented by the executive arm of government and none has so far been filed by any senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 8th senate.

“For the avoidance of doubt, a ‘national grazing reserve establishment and development commission bill (SB. 60)’ was presented by Senator Zaynab Kure (Niger Central) during the 7th Senate (2011–2015).

“That Bill has now expired by the operations of law on the 6th June, 2015, in furtherance of Section 64(1) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.”

Earlier at plenary, Eyinaya Abaribe (PDP Abia South), who raised a point of order, said there was no such bill.

He had said many of his constituents had called him over the bill, and urged the senate to come out with clarifications “so that Nigerians can know the true position’’.

Whether they deny or not, they are playing with fire on that one.

Which Fulani will tolerate part of their land annexed by the federal government and given to Igbos to build factories or farm cassava
or given to Yorubas to mine solid or build schools? "Then the Senate will call the crazy law, "National land use optimization Bill"

If they cannot tolerate their land annexed and given free of charge to other people, it will not be tolerated the other way round. Justice should be for everyone.

Good, it expired because another chaos would have erupted in Nigeria. Could you image a situation where one's ancestral land will be taken from him in the name of compensation and handed over to Fulani militia who pose as cattle rearers. Those men are too hostile to have neighbours, so they better stay where they understand themselves. In fact, they ought not to own any land that is not theirs. All grass lands except farms are welcome for cattle grazing hence, why need a reservation again? Why tresspass to farms? These are critical questions begging for answers. No grazing reserve bill please, before people will become fugitives in their own land.

I just imagine how the 8th assembly would have been with bastards like Ndume and Gbajabiamiala chaii it would have been a disaster because bullharry can easily wake up and start implementation of new rules without any objections from National Assembly.
bills like grazing bill and co would have been passed tey tey
the useless fraudulent budget would have been passed without questions tey tey

infact thanks to God for not making this country an Xbox game for a certain bastard vagabond Tinubu and a kunu drinking useless vulture called mumuhamado mumuharii
Thanks to God for saraki.

The lovers of the bill like passingshot, jorboskill, etc. will be highly disappointed. Only Yoruba muslims down south were in support of the bill..why?

Kure is a confirmed boko who forcefully introduced sharia to Niger state and he was part of the nPDP which will later merge with the APC.

This bill was and still remains a janjawiid bill for the Bokos by the bokos.

Why was it not passed in the 7th senate under David Mark?

BUT HOW CAN THIS BILL SUCCEED IN THIS NATION?

I decided to read a copy of the National Grazing Reserve Council Bill and I was surprised at what I saw.

The Bill creates a council to be chaired by a Chairman to be appointed by the president.

The council shall have the power to take your land anywhere the land is located in the country and then pay you compensation.

Your land, when taken, shall be assigned to herdsmen who shall use your land for grazing purposes. They shall bring cows to the land and you shall lose the land permanently to those Fulani cattlemen.
If you feel that the council was not right to take your land, you can go to court but before you go to court, you must first of all notify the federal attorney general of your intention to sue the council. Apart from notifying, you must get the consent and authority of the Federal Attorney General before you can sue.

So that means that if the Attorney General refuses to give his consent to the suit, you have lost your land forever to the herdsmen.

And this law, when passed, shall apply to the whole country so it means that your land in the village or anywhere is not safe.

The National Grazing Reserve Council would have the power to take away your land from you anytime they want and pay you whatever they want as compensation (even when you don't want to sell, and remember that for you to get compensation, you must have documents showing or proving ownership).

So I think that we all in the South West, South South and South East must rise up and reject this Bill. We must do all things to force our national Assembly members from passing that bill into law.

That bill is a deliberate attempt to take our lands and hand the land over to the Fulani cattlemen since it is only the fulanis that rear cattle in Nigeria.
That law, when passed, shall fulfil the directive of Uthman Dan Fodio and other northern leaders to take over other parts of Nigeria.

I implore you to use all available means to implore your senator and Rep not to pass that law.

That law will destroy Nigeria.
All over the world, ranches are established and used to rear cattle. The farmers buy land and put there cattle there. There is no country where the land of the citizens are compulsorily acquired and given to others.

This is evil, and designed to favour the Fulanis where the president comes from.
We must resist the passage of that bill into law to save Nigeria, and to protect our future generations.

Grazing bill koh, crazy bill nii... abeg let it don't even show face. Why is it that it's now a Fulani is at the head that such is coming up? This Bill will just deepen the divide between the North and south. What advantage will such be to the southerners? Instead it will be an opportunity for the northerners to crowd the south.

Some people actually want to cause confusion and problem in this country through using religion and ethnic divide.
This bill is a bill presented during the last administration and some people now want to attribute it to this administartion.
Really unfortunate the kind of politics Fani Kayode and the people of south east is playing.

better

But then, what took them soooo long?

And what are they doing to stop all these killings?

Shebi they want to import grasses?.. why cant they build reserves in the North?

Why cant the cattle rearers invest in their bussiness with incentives from the government?

They keep ranting that the meat is consumed by all Nigerians as if they are free.

Thanks for the enlightenment. And it will be a pity if our southern (SW, SS, SE) lawmakers supports this. This is beyond APC or PDP, the whole southern region should speak in one voice on this unless, the current Fulani herdsmen wahala will just be a tip of the icebreg
