Giving states more bail out is like waste of
resources. What this translate to is more cash in
the hands of the few privilege politicians. The
rate at which these funds are being diverted is
alarming and federal government is not
concerned. Look at osun state for instance,
workers are still being owed up to six months
while medical doctors have not collected salary
since september, 2015. We need proactive
government not these parasites we have on ground
You are a shameless liar. Osun state isn't owing workers.

Isn't Nigeria technically broke? On a serious note, FG should call a spade, a spade. In accounting, deferred payments such as tax and other payables are recognized as source of income. Hence, what FG gives to states is bail out phase 2.
You should be minister of finance ..you are better than that micro finance staff we have there as a minister

The funny thing about the comment above is that when you ask him what the government should do differently....or what the PDP owuld have done differently....there would be (for the most part) silence...then they repeat like a broken record their opinion of the current government's thinking process.

You think you have made a point worth clapping for abi? Are the governors working for free or we paid them fat salaries and allowances yet they plunder beyond what is reasonable & U ask we the citizens to tell them what to do differently so as to provide better IGR for their state. Tell them to get templates from developed countries, cut their wasteful spending & security votes, stop awarding white elephant projects to their god fathers & party chieftain then they will have enough to go round.

Oil prcies have fallen.....so bailouts are in order.
So its in order? what about the banks that gave them loans? the deduction frm source was the only way to ensure that the governors dont just which banks after collecting loans and nw its the FG that is aiding this. remember that loans frm banks are drawn from pool (deposit from customers). so if banks crash as a result of this then what next. why is the APC government running the country like an experiment.

While I am a firm believer in states getting financially independent....until oil prices shoot up....bailouts have to be done for now.

Why are we so wicked, if this government continue to remain mute about the states unable to pay salary many of complained. Now, that government has decided to help through loan once again, we complain still. Someone was talking about Osun state as if Osun state is only state indebted to staffs. What of Ekiti state? 6months salaries not paid, doctors are on strike because of unpaid salaries. Delta and Bayelsa the same but, who cares, Ago Fayose travelled to China spending tax payer's money because Buhari travelled China, 6 months salaries unpaid, doctors on strike and it's never a concern to him. All states gets state allocation from federal government every month, Ekiti, Delta and Bayelsa are most salaries indebted states.

Well said. The Federal Government should find alternative ways of helping states workers and pensioners getting their salaries and gratuity. Giving state governors relief bailout for workers will not solve the problem at all, some governors vows that whatever amount come from Fed. Govt. will not be used for salary but for project where they will be sharing percentages as their national cake, osun state is an example. If Fed. Govt. wanted to relieve state workers and pensioners, Govt. must set up a committee from Federal level to monitor each Accountant General of the states to pay workers and pensioners salaries

Madam minister, please refund Anambra state's N35 billion. We are not begging for bailout, just pay what FG is owing us. Stop marginalizing the Igbos.
