Pipeline vandalism, a by-product of corruption, is arguably the biggest problem that confronts us after Boko Haram, as a nation. At an average of 1,500 pipeline-break a year! I strongly support 'shoot on sight' against perpetrators of this evil act for the following reasons: 1. It costs the country billions of dollars in direct repairs, product loss, and downtime. 2. It costs health, lives, and income of locals in the affected areas. 3. It costs the country 'scarce Forex' -- a major cause of the falling Naira and insane inflation. 4. It is the major obstacle in the supply of power to businesses and homes -- without power, we use more fuel, spend more on 'gen', inverters, batteries, and other alternative power sources -- more out of our pockets 'cause of the greed or misguidance of some few. 5. It drives away investors. 6. The major sponsors of the perpetrators of this act, are the same people who stand to gain from fuel importation and importation of other alternative power sources -- it's less about 'marginalization' -- it is business -- it is evil-business! So, it's either we stand up against it now, or for tribal and other sentiments keep paying the price with darkness (which we pay for by the way . . . . 'NEPA' gets their money still), job losses, failed businesses, poor health, inflation and e.t.c. P.S. For pipeline vandals sympathizers, remember what happened to Boko Haram sympathizers ATEOTD. BTW, if anyone wants to talk about 'Fulani Herdsmen' kindly create another thread for that and not derail this . . . I will like to create one for that any free time soon too. This is about 'pipeline vandalism', insightful contributions for and against, are welcome. 3 Likes |

7 . It encourages mental laziness-- The individuals who are engaged in this unwholesome practice don't think of alternative ways of making money.... They believe they are helping themselves to what really belongs to them without bearing in mind that no matter the economic or political situation that has birthed this criminality, it must come to an end someday. 8. Environmental Pollution.. no need to type efistul. 9. Explosion Risk... How many times have we seen 40 burnt to death & begin to shout "Ikunle ooo"? Fiery death 10. It's not a "Job"!! Try pulling chics with "Na pipeline a dey buss oo"! Products pipelines vandals can be shot at sight, no problem but not Gas piplelines vandals... Gas pipeline vandals on should be castrated without any sedative first because unlike PMS vandals who do it for pecuniary reasons, Gas P vandals do it to distress Power supply chain.. It is pure enemy action! Evil deeds! 4 Likes 1 Share |

Police, Civil defence and the Navy are the main oil bunkers in the delta.. There are evidences to these facts.. When they purge all these evil law officers the menace will stop.. Please they should start immediately..at least I am sure they will have to gun down most of your thieving brothers in uniform if they are serious in curbing the menace... 1 Like |

Must u all depend on Niger Delta oil? Why not look away from the region and contribute to d national wealth than being jealous parasites. The region belongs to d Niger Deltans and people around there. FG can not be allowed to come n exploit d region as they did in times past. Vandalism may b their own way of fighting for d vicious activities of d Federal Govt against d region. Buhari shld learn to look inwards and admonish his fulani brothers. His fulani terrorist associates kill, rape and maim Nigerians in their homeland on daily basis yet nothing happens. Are fulani herdsmen sacred cows (or sacred cattle)? Why can't buhari drive ds country such that we look further than oil? I think ds govt still goes d path of previous leadership by allowing a monolithic economy. We have seen hw dangerous it was especially with d oil slump. Buhari must show less reliance on Niger Delta oil. He shld concentrate on other resources especially solid minerals left untapped in the north. Finally the North shld stop giving the impression that they are parasites. They shld also contribute to our collective wealth. 11 Likes |

Yes pipeline vandals should be shot on sight, while illegal miners in the north smile to the Bank and Fulani Herdsmen have a field day on peoples farms, when they call you people hypocrites now, we no go hear word. when its about ND modath gbawe and co will dance naked on the thread and write long meaningless epistles . but when fulani jihadist sack a whole village they all run into hiding and claim blindness 12 Likes 1 Share |

rozayx5: While illegal miners and Fulani herdsmen are worries that should be addressed (like I said we need another thread for that), comparing that to pipeline vandals is like comparing 'apples and monkeys' -- that's how far apart. Read the article again with an open mind, and tell me the 2 other ills you mentioned are comparable to pipeline vandalism. 3 Likes 1 Share |

989900B: Illegal miners don't piggyback on other peoples equipment. They drill their own mines and do whatever rudimentary processing all by themselves. Pipeline vandals are economic saboteurs that destroy million dollars worth of investment to be able to steal oil. I won't have any issues with them if they illegally drill for oil using their own rigs and transport the crude using their own pipelines rather than destroying corporate and government property which they did not pay a dime for. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Yorubasgreat: LOL . . . regulate people's input? Read the article again, I purposely stated reasonable opposing views are welcome. I chalked-off your last comment 'cause it came off like you hit your limit. If you have any intelligent 'counter-opinion' (I mean these are opinions), I'll reply responsibly. If you don't, I can't be of much use to a lame tête-à-tête. 3 Likes |

989900B: This thread is going to hell though, cos our people's stance on pipeline vandalism is purely from the POV of either "the violent taketh it by force" or "punishing the government" which are both flawed arguments.... Ideology based struggle is one that is well thought out & will only achieve its desired objective, if ALL have altruistic reasons... I know for a fact IOCs do the barest minimum for indigenous communities (Jobs, Scholarships, Contracts) , should be doing way way more but some have constituted themselves to kingpins!! Few warlords drain the most & only allow but a trickle to flow down the pipe.. (Pun intended) Fulani herdsmen menace & illegal miners are a different set of problems!!! 4 Likes |

modath: You know the part that sickens me the most is, most of the episodes are sponsored by same people who benefit by causing fuel scarcity and power outage (which the same 'none-the-wiser-brainwashed-thugs suffer from), while the same sponsors 'slyishly' proceed to Abuja to collect funds on behalf of the same misguided lot, and loot all of them funds. The Fulani menace is a totally different case. 3 Likes |

Yorubasgreat: thank you Bro when it comes to Oil everyone cares about the ND but once the cash comes out its the North that own 80% of the oil blocks fulani herdsmen are causing serious economic damage and they dont care because it does not affect the monthly handout from Abuja, but once its oil everyone becomes one Nigeria. in sane countries the illegal mines in the north should have been regulated and taxed for the benefit of everyone, but in this case only oil is taxed and feeds the national purse, while they steal what should have been everyones property and sell and come here to preach we should build our own rigs and drill oil, like they would allow you to do that. hypocrites 3 Likes |
