yes o! The spouse of a LPR......... And you?

am in F1 category, I am in my early 30s and should be married but doing so will put me in F3, additional 4 year wait is the last thing i want
how did your spouse get her LPR status, was she in F1 like me?
i understand on getting a visa, you have to travel, get your green card in 2 weeks or so before one can get married.
i dont want a child outside marriage

if she is able to apply to be a citizen if she meets the requirement, you may not need to wait.

a new bulletin has been released for december,
they all seem to keep the same pace, all thanks to the fact that it is the beginning of a fiscal year
by the time they start assigning those unused in different categories to the right ones, it may start to move awkwardly.

How long does it take the consulate to send passports to the collection center? Went there today and they say passports are not ready even though the visas were issued a week ago :/

Whao! NoirBlvck,
you are the boss now.

given that this has been posted a while back, am sure you have your plane tickets now or even in US already.
please share graphic details of the whole process, interview questions, how long it all took. if you have items you want to dispose at ridiculous rates, i have bachelor friends who may be interested.

The current bulletin is out and moving well

Heyyy! Sorry for the late response. I've been crazy busy. We actually arrived here Thursday lol.

Interview was OK. They asked how my parents met, how long my dad had been in the US, occupation e.t.c Our interview was really short, less than 5 minutes, I think. I don't think anyone was denied and all interviews I witnessed were really short except for this one guy who had been married like a thousand times lipsrsealed

POE was a breeze until we got to the place where they process immigrant visas. They kept us there for over an hour and we ended up missing our connecting flight lol.

Good morning sir, my very good live in USA married US citizen, which type of visa can this couple apply for me, I'm not going for visit, I want to stay and work. If we use family visa, that means I will change my surname to my friend surname or any other way for them to apply for me without changing my surname?
Re: US Family Preference Visa Waiters Lounge by ttmacoy: 5:35pm On Apr 29, 2016
Your friend cannot apply for you to come and live and work in the US. He can only apply for his spouse, children parents and siblings not friends.

When you say change your name to your friends name, that still does not prove you are related.

Even if you are able to prove you are e.g. brothers, the process can take up to 10 years or more based on the current waiting times.

I'm not sure what you mean by reunite but you can apply for for visit visa to go visit, you will not be able to live and work. You may be lucky to find someone who is a citizen while there visiting, fall in love a get married.

If you are looking at permanent relocation legally your only options would be via work permit through an American employer or go via student visa and try to get a job with sponsorship when you finish.

Or invest a significant amount in the US economy. No other legal way I can think of.

Why do you want to re-unite at all cost? cant you re-unite with hundreds of other friends you have here in Nigeria?
you are even ready to change your name to his, very shameful.

if you miss him, visit him and get back to your country.

my concern is you are attempting to commit fraud that will likely render you ineligible to travel to US for life, also your type are the reasons Nigerians have such bad image.
how can you offer to change your surname to re-unite to your long lost friend who is now married?

why not thread the right path?
pay him a visit on a b2 visa

or better still look out for job opportunities when you visit and let the US company file for you the right way.

F2B is an unmarried son or daughter of a green card holder.
once approved, your priority date is what you need to check you place in the queue.

coincidentally, i am in the same F1 as the OP
check the visa bulletin every month

if you priority date is december 2014, then you need to wait for 5 or 6 years more

This thread is for those who have no option than to wait for a Visa number to become available before they can immigrate to the USA,
I am referring to nairalanders in the F1, F2a, F2b, F3 and F4 category.

Most of us have bookmarked the bulletin located here
http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin.html

which tells where processing is currently
Unfortunately, we are the rare set who will most likely be rejected a non-immigrant visa even if we have genuine reasons to travel and come back,

Today, department of state released an upcoming visa bulletin for the month of september 2015 and this time, it appear the queue is moving faster, for August 2015, it was for those before Nov 1 2007, for Next month, it will be for those before Dec 15 2007. that is 1 and half month which is not bad.
I will try to update this list once it is released, i will update the one that pertains to Nigeria only

Categ.------Jan.2016------Feb.2016------Mar.2016----Apr.2016-----May.2016

F1---------15MAY08------08JUL08------08AUG08-----22SEP08-----22NOV08
F2A-------01AUG14------01SEP14------22SEP14------22OCT14-----01NOV14
F2B-------01APR09------15MAY09------22MAY09-----15JUN09-----01SEP09
F3--------01AUG04------01OCT04------15OCT04-----22NOV04-----01DEC04
F4--------22APR03-------08JUN03------01JUL03------22JUL03-----22JUL03

Let us engage on this thread, for those who are current and have been invited, please share your experiences, procedures, etc
If you have questions for the visa officers here, please visit their respective threads and not this.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: if your petitioner filed for you as a legal permanent resident, and the petitioner later becomes a US citizen, Please notify your petitioner not to change your status from F2B to F1 as you can see that F2B is faster

For those who have relatives in the USA and who dont know, your relative can file for you if you fall in any of this category and you sponsor(s) is/are 125% above poverty line

First: (F1) Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens.

Second: Spouses and Children, and Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Permanent Residents.

A. (F2A) Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents.

B. (F2B) Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older) of Permanent Residents.

Third: (F3) Married Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens.

Fourth: (F4) Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens.

Mods, please let this thread live.
Thanks

you've got 5years to wait sweetie, plus or minus 1 year for the irregularities in the monthly movements.
you need to take your mind off it and continue living your life till you get an email from NVC in roughly 2021
what of your parent? are they alive?

your US citizen sibling chose the slow path. He should have gotten any of dad or mom their greencards FIRST, since they are immediate relatives, they wont have to wait. once USCIS approves their petition, they get interviewed right away and become LPRs once they enter US.

then your LPR parent file for you which would have put you in (F2A) , you would have gotten your interview in June 2010 if Nov 2007 is still your priority date

Also note that your sister or brother sponsoring you must stay alive, or it will all be gone.

Wow, Didn't know this thread existed. No wonder when I started a Similar Thread, The Mod Justwise closed it. Its good to be here. Pls let's keep this thread alive. @ SlightlyMad, your moniker is funny ooo cheesy. Meanwhile have u heard from NVC? What's ur priority date? My mum Filed for me in 2011, by 2012 she became a Citizen. She called Uscis and informed them, but for some reason, it was still on F2B and it's even moving Faster than F1. The wait is sometin else., Being my 2nd Petition. If my mum knew it would take this long, she would have Filed another petition for me immediately she got to America in 09. She was busy waiting for the Petition my stepdad Filed for me, thinking it will be approved. That was why she waited till 2011 to file. So far, this is my 5th year of waiting for my Visa number to be current. I have Since taking my mind off it, and running my boutique Business. Being an only Child, it's so hard to be far away from my mum, but we communicate everyday over the phone, and she Comes to Naija Every year to Visit us. Am still Single but have 2kids now, the First Is 3 going to 4 and the 2nd is 8months now. I never ready marry now, make our case no go enter F3, Additional wait., and our Country Naija is not Smiling. Just want to get the federal birth certificate of my baby so I can send it to my mom so she forwards it to NVC. Cos the new V.O advised that I contact NVC to inform them about my kids before the interview. God will perfect everything that Concerns all of us waiting to reunite with our family IJN. Amen.
Re: US Family Preference Visa Waiters Lounge by slightlyMad(f): 10:02am On May 05, 2016
@pretty16, good to hear from you babe

you should be glad you were not moved to f1.
just remind her NOT to request category change.
also, note that with your priority date, it is very possible for someone at the embassy to accurately link your case to your nairaland handle.

comments and posts you make on this forum, even if you dont mean them or does not describe your real world personality could haunt you.
because i heard from the past VO that for immigrant cases, they do investigate thoroughly and that they actually check posts and tweets.
which is understandable given the kind of world we live in today.

it is good you are focusing on your business, i am also single too just because of this pending case.
which quarter of what year is your priority date?
mine is 4rd quarter of 2009

Hi

lol. sounds more like asking if it will apply to married babies of LPRs
ofcourse you are mummy's pet but not to immigration.
Children, immigration-wise is unmarried & below 21 years old.

you can enter a category here if your LPR parent naturalizes OR you are a divorcee (will put you in f2b)

for your parent to naturalize, he/she must be a LPR, have spent 5 yrs in US (i.e not spent more than 6months outside USA annually), then apply for citizenship.

so if your parent becomes a citizen, she can file for you, then you end up in F3, a very slow category which can take up to 20 years wait time
here is the soothing news, if along the line, you divorce for any reason., you can notify NVC with your divorce documents, you can be moved to F2B while keeping your priority date.

e.g if you have waited for 8 years and you divorce, there is a good chance when you move to F2B, you be invited for interview same year because F2B has 6 to 7 yrs wait time.
