blueto:nice one. "seeing" is a gerund and it only exists when used at the begining of a sentence. Like "seeing is believing" |
Re: 2016/2017 Uniben Admission Thread Guide. by Geofavor(m): 9:28pm On Apr 30, 2016 |
blueto:Lol. You're right. "See" isn't used in the progressive tense. It is, however, a habit of mine to manipulate the English language to suit my preference. . |

Geofavor: Geofavor:As long as your verbiage perennially eschews breaching on syntax when it is matters, then your are safe KPhantom:Thanks, I learnt something . |
Re: 2016/2017 Uniben Admission Thread Guide. by Geofavor(m): 9:49pm On Apr 30, 2016 |
blueto:Lol. I didn't know we had some grammar police here on NL. Being verbose isn't a thing of mine. But then, I could be grandiloquent if the occasion calls for it. I'll take the highlighted to be a typo. |

Geofavor:An error . It is like you made an erroneous illation of the word "verbiage" in that context. The word is a polysemous word, thus it possesses a dual meaning of which alludes “overabundance of words(tautology)” and “diction." I adopted the “diction” meaning in that context, and it seemed you were oblivious about it and it precipitated you to aver of “grandiloquent” . Anyway, no qualms . |
Re: 2016/2017 Uniben Admission Thread Guide. by Geofavor(m): 10:36pm On Apr 30, 2016 |
blueto:verbiage -- a pollysemous word? That's a newsflash to me. "Verbiage" is used only when too much words are used. It isn't used to decribe one's "diction". The highlighted should be "aver THAT. . ." |

KPhantom:This is how an academic thread should be. Kudos to you guys for the way you give and embrace correction. I'm exultant. Meanwhile, I think some gerunds like "seeing", "hearing" and others can still make sense in the middle of a sentence; I look forward to seeing you soon. I look forward to hearing from you. I look forward to taking/writing the exam tomorrow. what do you think? Good morning |

JY01:Here? This is farcical to me. I was active and exuberant on the antiquated version of this thread, and I am already a bona fide student of Uniben. I just decided to evaluate this thread and later abdicate from it. Yes, I am an erudite of grammar. but, I am not of Patrick. I possess my own hallmark. An exhilarant Sunday to you . |
