The mistakes i see are :
1. "The" was repeated twice
2. Also if the colors were to be taken logically in terms of ROYGBIV, these means the numbers should be colored in the arrangement of;
RED,ORANGE,YELLOW,GREEN,BLUE,INDIGO, AND VIOLET that is 7 numbers, where 4 & 6 should not be der.

..Also this might be a wrong Answer cos Op only asked if the answer could be found which is YES!!

The rainbow has 7 colors arranged as follows - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet.

Your answer sounds intelligent but you are wrong on this. remember the instruction the op gave us -'spot the MISTAKE'. 3 and 8 not being in the same colour range with the others is a DIFFERENCE not a mistake. so the only mistake is 'the" that was repeated.
another possible but technical answer is pointing out the word 'mistake' in the sentence.
if the op had asked us to spot a difference, you would be correct. Following instructions carefully is important.

It suppose to follow the colour of the rainbow but green appeared twice, and the colour of 8 is wrong.

6 should come before 7 in the colour spectrum

5 is d mistake. its right colour suppose to be blue. from the sequential colours of rainbow: ROYGBIV: Red ,Orange, Yellow,Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.

although there is a mistake with the sentence cos of the repetition of 'the'.
the mistake with the colouring is on 4 & 6. if you look at the colouring, you will understand that it represented the colours of the rainbow(ROYGBIV). the only colour that stands out is 4 and 6
