I think Achebe will ever be remembered as a pioneer in African literature his works are bold and good ... But Adichie captures it better

Kennedy you are right.I love Achebe's books so much.Based on contemporary works,Achebe's style of writing might not captured the vogue...Adichie's books are lengthier and cuts across a cross section of both Nigerians at home n in diaspora

Comparing the both is like an insult to Achebe. The question is, what has Adichie written to give her a seat close to Achebe. She is good, no doubt about it, but in the world of literature Achebe is a god. His works have been studied by many. THINGS FALL APART was written in a countless number of languages. What a feat to achieve!

Proverbs are the palm oil with which words are eaten- Chinua Achebe.

Things fall apart and No longer at ease are quite possibly the best novels to come out of Nigeria imo.

Reading Those books felt like going back in time, and interacting with characters so real, I could visualise them in my head...

And all those proverbs...

Not to rubbish Achebe's achievement in the literary world. He is a pioneer and a master of the craft of story telling but Chimamanda is a far better writer.

Majority of those shouting Achebe most probably are just hero worshipping and have never read a single book of Chimamanda. Achebe is a good story teller while Chimamanda is a better literary artist.
