In Nigeria, The Wealthy And Affluent Tends To Get Sympathy For Their Crimes More Quickly Than The Peasants Who Sees Such Crime As Their Only Remedy To Starvation...
The law is sancrosanct when a pauper commits a crime, but when a public officer of high rank does such, the constitution needs to be amended.
This reminds me of the NASS' previous plenary session in which they recommended a death penalty for anyone involved in kidnapping and hostage-taking after one of its members - a senator from ogun state - was fortunately delivered from kidnappers yesterday. Nigeria has hitherto encountered countless cases of kidnappings that when quite unnoticed by the NASS or maybe deemed too unimportant to deserve the stress of the NASS making legislations to combat such crimes. But recently the tune seems to have changed now that one of their own "super-human" legislators has gotten a taste of abduction.
