We Don't Have Land For Grazing Reserves In South-East - Okezie Ikpeazu Warns by EasternLion: 11:16am On May 06, 2016

The Abia State Governor Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has said that any plan to create a grazing reserves for the Fulani herdsmen will be frustrated in the South East because there are no sufficient land space in the zone for it.

Governor Ikpeazu spoke this morning when he appeared on the Magic 102.9 FM Aba flagship programme "People and Politics", stressed that there are enough land space in the north for grazing reserves.

"We don't need grazing reserves in the South-East, because we don't have land space for it. There are enough land in the north, so let have grazing reserves there."

"There is massive landmass in the North to create grazing reserves, we can't allow anybody to come to South East and take our lands in the name of creating grazing reserves."

"We can't allow that to happen, we will frustrate any efforts to take away our lands for graving fields".

cool
Good!!
The SE is geographically the smallest in Nigeria... So its treasonous for any SE governor(cc Umāhi) to suggest the creation of grazing zones/routes here. The loyalty of any Igbo governor is to Igboland, and am happy that OVI has stated our collective position on this herdsmen stuff.

Nice one...they should use the large expanse of land wasting away in the north e.g the notorious sambisa forest and other areas in Yobe, Jigawa Bauchi etc

Isn't it ironic that the same fulani people who abuse the East for having smaller landmass, now wants part of those land? Junaid moh'd and ciroma have always abused and mocked the East for having relatively smaller landmass, now why should they be rewarded with land in the east?

Igbo land is densely populated. Outside Europe (if Alaigbo is a country), it will probably be among the most densely populated country in the world .

Our population density was as a result of good cultural practices, fantastic traditional medical practices (which we abandoned for western medicine), wealth as a result of hard work by our fore fathers, all year round rain fall which means no chance for famine, the huge population meant external aggressors stayed away apart from inter communal disputes which were quickly resolved, close communities were twinned which means cultural integration and quick conflict resolution.

Infact, I am about to prove to the world through my painstaking research that modern technology as we know it started from Alaigbo.

So yes, there is no land available for grazing reserve in Alaigbo.

From today, if any Igbo man dies in Ebonyi by fulani matchete, Umahi actually sent fulani to kill Igbos for political power and he will get his recompense very soon. He can ask Rochas how far.

Any attempt to create grazing reserves in any part of the South would be met with heavy resistance.

The man is correct Nwa Aba, and he is pro-Igbo in this thoughts first before anything.

The way he rubbished DSS claims the other day, you will know he does not fear what anybody will say or do.

The so called grazing rights will only lead to WAR. The fulanis have an attitude of lording over any land they see themselves and I'm certain that most tribes like mine will never accept that and the result would be a deadly conflict.

Whoever is pushing this grazing right bill is not in his/her right senses.

Individual Igbos who feel like can sell THEIR OWN land to any willing buyer, just like Igbos buy land anywhere in Nigeria. What we do not support and can never support is Fed govt taking land in Igboland in the name of grazing reserves for private cattle rearers.

One cannot help but shudder at the absurdity that is creating grazing reserves. We have one of the most useless and senseless government in the world else I don't understand how this is a solution to the invasion of the Fulani herdsmen and their destruction of lives and farmlands. I don't understand how the private business of a Fulani man has become the prerogative of government. How do you create a grazing reserve for someone running a private venture which he doesn't share with the country himself. Whenever an issue that involves the north, the government is always seen petting and pandering to the whims of people from that Nigeria. Except the government can tell me how many trading reserves that they have created for the Ignore people all over the country, the grazing reserve idea is not o my foolish but an aberration. Igbos who travel round the country use their personal money to buy land, build houses or setup shops but this government of ours want to use our commonwealth to grease the businesses of herders. This should not be allowed to succeed by any state in the south.

The land use act confers the ownership of all lands in the state on the state Governors!!! besides common sense stipulates that you cant forcefully take someelse's property to give to another.Anyone who wants grazing and should get ready to negotiate and pay for them.Nothing is free even in freetown

I love this SE governor for his clear and unequivocal stance. If only my SW governors will get together and give public notice to Fulani-hearders and migrants from the SE that YORUBALAND is full and we don't need traders and hawkers and economic refugees from the SE. Abuja is the capital of Nigeria not Lagos state or Ogun State.
