It is not wailing. Honestly I didn't know until when the fiscal year for 2016 began someone pointed it out. I made some research & then the correction.

But I'm not staying back to watch though, I'm part of the process in my own little way.

Finally, the government can settle down and start fixing the economic problems of the country. Kudos to the president for standing his ground and ensuring that all the major projects proposed in the budget are not watered down or removed by the legislatures for selfish reasons. For once, we have a budget that is implementable and not one paddled with ridiculous constituency projects by the National Assembly.

Nigerians voted for change and the process leading to the passage and signing of this budget clearly showed a departure from the past where Ghana must go bags play a major role in the passage. But most importantly, implementing the 30% capital allocation to the letter and the fulfilment of so many promises made by the APC to the Nigerian people will go a long way in confirming if truly, change is here.

Today’s event comes after the National Assembly submitted a clean copy of the budget to the President.

The President had withheld assent after some alterations were noticed in the document.

The government announced yesterday it had mapped out 34 strategic priority programmes and projects it intended to achieve with the 2016 budget.

These include a capital spend minimum of 30% annually, an appropriate and predictable exchange regime by the end of 2016, increased low interest lending rate of 9%, self-sufficiency in tomato paste in 2016 and rice production by 2018.

It also plans to increase local production of maize, soya beans, poultry and livestock and to stop import.
