For those trying to differentiate Ibori from Uduaghan, there is hardly any difference between them. Ibori's admin projects where spread out evenly throughout his tenure while uduaghan's admin focused on 'chopping' first before executing major projects. I said chopping because when you look at the funds coming in now and three-four years back there is hardly any increase from Fg, borrowing or tax and yet we have so many projects on ground now than any time of Uduaghan admin. |

SLIDE waxie: one way to remain in ur problem is not accepting it. You can never be a professor on a subject without studying the subject. You can not sit in one corner of nigeria and claim to be an expert on things happening in other people's backyard. Sit back and let those who understand the issues at play in delta state educate you 1 Like |

Otseh: pls remove ibori from that list. ibori may be bad, but for governance, if another person can try as much as ibori did for delta state, delta will be dubai of nigeria.God bless you for this. I cant even say Ibori is bad. The man is delta's best governor for now. He improved the state during his time. The man dere rite now just dey enrich him 12 disciples. |

The problem is the government; they should provide the necessary infrastructure and see the magic that will happen. |

blink182: so in your own opinion, what is wrong with the town? Why not read through the thread first before commenting. I have already stated the three main issues that made warri to depreciate on this thread. |

It is unfortunate that WARRI as community has been deserted. The natives are not helping matters. Virtually all Oil companies have re-located to either Lagos or Port Harcourt due to excesses of these guys. They don't want to work but rather depends on oil companies to pay them one royalties or other. Oil companies crew change have all gone to Lagos because of Osubi Community boys that always demand one thing or the other from these companies. May God help them. 1 Like |

Overdependency on the federal government. That's the problem with places like Warri. From the OP, one see that there has been very little indigenous private sector activities in the city. The political elites of the city are too busy playing political prostit.ution at the center, with the hopes of getting some falling crumbs. This is the legacy of our distorted federal system. It's either we begin to clamour for change now, or you simply live with it. Tough luck, if I may quote Buhari. 2 Likes |

Re: WARRI - Where Did It All Go Wrong? by Nobody: 8:56am On Mar 16, 2016 |
In my opinion, its as a result of bad govt. I hv lived in warri all my life, but currently in school. The violent that's happening in warri also happen in other parts of Nigeria, for those of u say warri boys are thugs, is there any place in Nigeria where there is no thug? I admit there are thugs and illiterate in warri but let's not generalize it, the are also good, calm collective, graduate in warri. |

In all this, Lagos may need to start exporting leaders to other states. with the failure of other states, lot more people head to Lagos because other States have to refused to grow or have insecurity problems. Most of the major comedians come from delta and are in Lagos. Some of the major musicians come from jos yet are in Lagos. That is just a case study of a small profession. Many other professionals find their way to Lagos daily. I know more people who have moved from Port Harcourt to Lagos than vice versa. 2 Likes |

And the Niger Delta boys are sending the companies on their soil packing. Who are we going to blame for the social woes plaguing the Niger Delta? Is it the Gods, their backward thinking or handicap Government in states over there? 1 Like |

true-bad leadership, millitancy etc played a part in warri cites fall to decadence, but the biggest factor is that there where cheaper alternatives to warri in its dominant oil and gas sector. |

dayokanu: U have summarized it all the real problem of warri is the Ijaws, uhrobos and the itsekiris who are the three major tribes of the area, there is too much division and mistrust amongst them this was what made gej not to commission and complete the epz gas project which could have provided thousands of jobs for the indigens of the area but infightings amongst them about the real ownership of the land where this project was sited could not make gej to commission it before he left office. So the whole blame of the situation of warri should go to the pple of the area for inability to come together to map out a better future for their generations yet unborn. |

dayokanu: worthy to note too that some political arithmetic plays some roles as well. for example, I got to watch a documentary about Bomadi being the original dockyard for repairs of ships, there were no issues with the 3 major tribes by then, the reason for its relocation is something questionable - UAC also had their base there -- |
