Joomla is the second most popular content management system (CMS) after WordPress, used for website development. It is robust, very flexible, secured and can be used to build websites ranging from the simplest to very complex websites. Joomla also has a large community of developers who support its users with components, plugins and modules. These three are simply called extensions and actually define the look and feel, the usability and functionality of a Joomla website.

Like other web-building software, Joomla is designed to be search engine friendly. It has its in-built Search Engine Friendly (SEF) capability, you have the option to turn on Search Engine Friendly URLs and can choose to add website branding or not. But beyond the in-built Joomla SEO capability, there are plugins which can boost Joomla’s capacity to feature a website prominently on search engines. This post will look at five of those plugins, there pros and cons. They are actually applications that you cannot do without if you are to do well with Joomla in the highly competitive world of the internet.

Hi,

Your top-menu is not arranged properly. It is confusing.

https://www.todhost.com/blog/.... is your blog-portal where 'home' leads visitors back to your blog home page, and all other menu-items presently lead visitors to your hosting portal.

Thats wrong.

The categories in your blog portal (top-menu) should allow users to read articles from your blog and not be redirected to your hosting portal. I can see the categories for your blog on the sidebar. It should be the other way around.

The categories presently on your sidebar should be arranged as the top menu, while the present links on the top menu linking back to the hosting portal should be nicely featured on the sidebar.

Note, the average visitor to your site looks at the top menu first before the sidebar; so if he/she ends up confused, then of what use is the visit.

regards,
HK

We appreciate your comments. However, placing blog categories as main menu items is not a rule. If you look at the hostgator blog for example, you'll find that the idea is to provide news and education and placing the core services to the fore. The choice is for the designer and his interests. We do not run the usual blog which focuses on adsense to generate revenue. And so, we have to place our core services in most visible parts of the blog.
