Somebody should tell Buhari's Aide de camp to leave him for a minute. Other world leaders came with their security details but it is only Buhari you will see with military man all the time. |

allthingsgood: So Nigeria will stand still because he is fighting corruption. |

Acidosis: That's not the point. The President cannot be everywhere. That's where you and I come in. Fighting corruption must be collective. Its not only by making people scared to steal, but we as Nigerians must love our country enough to reject corruption. So don't sit in one corner laughing at the presidents attempts when u are not doing anything on your part. If Nigeria is good tomorrow its not only President Buhari that will enjoy it! 2 Likes |

Noneroone: See MUMU united, they are yapping your country because of PDP's corruption and GEJ's corruption abi you know hear wetin Archbishop Wembly talk after that, he said Buhari is not corrupt. They equally handed over the list of Nigerians with a/cs in London to Buhari. |

Corruption fighting should start with Buhari himself, because he is ruling us with forged Cambridge o level certificate. |

allthingsgood: People were made to belief the image and even the name of the President is enough to scare looters, and thieves. This has never worked, it has in fact aided more loopholes. The ideal thing is for the government to change the brand of the nation just as APC rebranded a one time tyrant into a democrat. Corruption can be fought decisively while portraying the nation and the people in a good light. |

Acidosis: You have not said anything. We tried the rebranding thing when Dora Akunyili was Minister, it never worked! You cant just rebrand with nothing more done to the actual problem. Those who have soiled their fingers must be punished. I don't care whether u call it witchhunting or whatever, when Buhari leaves the next President should also witchhunt. Bottom line is, all thieves must be punished. It is the certainty of penalty that dissuades crime, not the severity. It has little or nothing to do with rebranding. This administration is very much on the right course! |

samhay: it will reduced it not necessarily fix it , corruption is rampart in Nigeria because of the fear of poverty , why will a Nigerian police oersonnel ask for a bribe , the main reason is that he wants more money and the fear of poverty , the other side also is why will a well paid senator divert funds to himself or another country ..it is still linked to a poverty , the fear of 'not enough' and selfishness. now if the power supply is fixed , the employment rate will drop , there will be more opportunities , wages will increases incrementally , for example the police force will be paid well not the peanuts that they are being paid ..with the power supply fix and rise of tech innovation ,we can even use tech to monitor places or publics that are prone to corruption .. |

9jatatafo:The problem is we claim know so much and yet not doing fine personally. That he's behind him shows he has got clearance and it's allowed, hence it won't be so. Would you lie by saying you've never seen the president attend international meetings without his ADC behind him when he delivers his speeches? I've seen countless times and infact, when I saw at an international event Obama was having no body behind him, on stepping out of the podium, I couldn't even fathom the design of his secret service agents, they were everywhere. That one person is behind him doesn't show he's more secured with that and that he followed him shows the security protocol wasn't breached. U can't tell me you are more vast than the president in these things and he knows that very well, there must be a reason he's behind the president, or why protocols allowed that. |
Re: Buhari Speaks At The Tackling Corruption Together Conference In The UK by 9jatatafo(m): 7:37pm On May 11, 2016 |
abimic: The white people know how our mentality is and they will always give clearance to his ADC. So giving his ADC clearance is not something out of this world. That place is very secure and I don't think such is required. Don't you see whenever Nigerian presidents are artending international summits the number of their entourage? |
Re: Buhari Speaks At The Tackling Corruption Together Conference In The UK by abimic(m): 7:49pm On May 11, 2016 |
9jatatafo:Yes, as much i agree to your assertion, had we seen other speakers that are presidents without theirs, I would have being able to make points with u and u too backing up your claim of us being backward as a nation. Still, i know that buhari has attended conferences more robust than this on the international level and he spoke without his ADC standing guard behind him:Countless ones. so, that he did it here isn't a sign of backwardness but what he would have loved had he being given free hand. Let's see if he would deliver a speech tomorrow at Lancaster and do same, to me I think it shows the program didn't have top world leaders in attendance as that would make the gathering very expansive. |

allthingsgood: This is not directed at you per se but I honestly don't think that Nigeria's biggest problem is corruption, rather accountability. Who do these politicians, police officers, businessmen and women have to answer to? How can the official military spokesperson of Nigeria come out and blatantly lie about their exploits in the country and how can the DSS come out and lie against a group of innocent protestors without any repercussions? Is it not because they don't really have anyone to answer to? Just like the thieving politicians, they only answer to the incumbent government and the government has often been in line with what they're doing. The only reason why we're seeing such a big shift against thieving politicians is because Buhari himself seems to be against that type of behaviour, even if it has mostly targeted the opposition. Mark my words, once a new president is sworn in, one that is a bit more lax with thievery, the old problems will come back with a vengeance. The only way to curb this problem is to make every single public and private official accountable to his/her actions. Nigeria's public expenditure needs to be made available for the public and we need to be able to see exactly how every penny is spent. If we see any even one kobo missing then we should be able to question and interrogate our government about it. This is where the media comes in; they're supposed to act as a medium between the public and those who govern us, not as a mouthpiece for whichever political party is sponsoring them. Essentially, what I'm saying is that these people need to answer to the one incorruptible body there is, the people. If they were to answer to Buhari or the EFCC without any input from the public, as we are seeing now, then isn't it possible that either one could abuse this power? |

Jonathan can never be in this kind of conference when it is not the conference to empower people to be more corrupt. |

Ngozi123: No matter what u say, biafra can NEVER be supported. Period. All u typed now goes to no issue and has no bearing with this topic! |
Re: Buhari Speaks At The Tackling Corruption Together Conference In The UK by Ngozi123(f): 8:47pm On May 11, 2016 |
allthingsgood: What did I say that has anything to do with Biafra, or is it because of my name that you've just assumed that? If I was truly an advocate for Biafra then I would be supporting Nigeria in the current predicament it's in as, by the way it's going, it will surely break up sooner or later. I suggested a possible solution for this deeply rooted problem that we have, why don't you give me some constructive criticism if you're going to quote me? |
