olillywales:
The London branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has also issued a statement condemning British Prime Minister David Cameron's recent comments terming Nigeria a "fantastically corrupt" nation.

Signed by the APC London Press Secretary, Adenike Lucas, the statement said President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to rooting out corruption in the nation.

“The rash statement by the Prime Minister and leader of the conservatives, David Cameron, earlier today fails to credit President Muhammadu Buhari’s effort in fighting corruption," it said.

“President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR who should arrive in the UK shortly for the anti-corruption summit hosted by David Cameron has received commendation from the Prime Minister in the past and other world leaders over his stance against corruption.

“During the 2015 Election campaign, PMB as he is fondly known pledged to fight corruption and he has not reneged on his promise.

“It should be noted that within a year of being sworn-in, President Buhari has achieved a lot in his fight against corruption in Nigeria.

“President Buhari is known for his zero tolerance against corruption. He has made major efforts to change the image of the nation within and outside the country; and this government’s policies are working. In the recent list of the top 10 most corrupt countries released, Nigeria was not on the list.

“Even while the Prime Minister made the comment about Nigeria being one of the “fantastically corrupt Countries”, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby quickly corrected him and acknowledged in the presence of the Queen of England that President Buhari “is actually not corrupt and he is doing a great job in Nigeria”.

“Nigeria and indeed the world are aware the new sheriff in town is working to tackle corruption unlike the previous government which allowed corruption to thrive.

“The APC-led government has empowered the anti-corruption agency (EFCC) resulting in several high profile investigations and prosecution of individuals involved in corruption and misappropriation of funds. This is an ongoing process that includes blocking leakages, sensitising the system, re-training of stakeholders amongst other measures put in place to curb corruption.

It is crystal clear to all that President Buhari is determined to root out corruption from the system.

“APC UK and Nigerians in the Diaspora have confidence in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and believes that the current administration is moving Nigeria forward, away from the rot and decay suffered under the previous administration," it added.

If Nigeria is not fantastically corrupt, what has the president been fighting this past one year?
We all know Nigeria is corrupt but we don't need a David Cameron telling us that - gay punk...he should go and solve their exodus issue from the EU! Nigeria is corrupt yet they never reject or refund all our stolen fund stached in their banks. Nonsense. Why will one be calling a black goat dark black when the colour is obvious. PMB has been battling with corruption since May 29, 2015.
Let's for once leave sentiment and face reality. God bless Nigeria.

I wonder why Nigerian are making statements here and there with some even calling for apology from David Cameron. Did David Cameron make an official statement calling Nigeria corrupt? No! David Cameron was only having a private discussion and he only happened to give his private opinion. It was unfortunate a camera was eavesdropping and was able to capture the conversation. How can one apologize for an opinion? In the said conversation, the other people agreed wholly with Cameron's opinion, namely, the queen and the arch bishop, so should they also apologize for holding the same opinion also?

Cameron did not tell us that we are corrupt, he was telling the queen of England and the archbishop of canterbury. The quantity of stolen funds in their banks is the evidence Cameron relied on to say we are fantastically corrupt.

What difference does it make if he tells Queen Sheeba or the world. He was saying for it for us to hear.
